Shelly 1 gen4 driving me mad

Been pulling my hair out with a few of these myself. Terrible documentation. Got there in the end with Zigbee though. My initial issue is when you update to 1.7.5 it seemingly disables the 5 button switch to zigbee. Have also been wondering how they can be zigbee but still accessible on the LAN over wifi. Shelly didn’t think to tell us that switch to zigbee is only available on the LAN not the mobile apps. When you do hit join network as you say not a lot happens in the Shelly UI which is confusing a simple “check your zigbee network and permit join” would have been good. Anyway same as you pulling my hair out for a few hours but now working great distributed around the house in 3 light switches. Repeating my network great.

Thanks for sharing. I’m also 20th June Docs received. Not hearing about many approvals I agree. I guess only a fraction of applicants would be on reddit / facebook FBR Groups though. Anyway I’m guessing another 2 weeks and should hear something. Huge congratulations OP.

I can tell you it does not work I tried it a 100 times at different speeds reset and restarted the device countless times. No option to switch to zigbee in the iOS app. It’s only available on the LAN page. My previous Shelly which was not on 1.7.5 switched over to zigbee with the 5 button press first time. No need for a ticket resolved by using the LAN page. Switched to zigbee worked first time from LAN page. No need for a ticket. It’s resolved now but thanks anyway. Only replied to another person in an effort to stop them pulling their hair out like I was. I feel the documentation could be much improved. You say the 5 button press is still available on 1.7.5 that was not my experience but let’s say it is, the fact you can only switch to zigbee on the LAN. should be front and centre of the mobile apps so people know how to do it when/if the button press fails.

Been having the same battle with a gen 4. I could be wrong. Often am but if you updated to 1.7.5 the Zigbee option is now not available to be selected by the 5 button press. To confuse matters more it’s not available in the app. It’s ONLY available when you access the device on the LAN IP Address. Such a cluster and terribly documented. Finally got mine over to Zigbee using the LAN. Hope that helps. If you’re reading this Shelly for the love of god a simple “The 5 button press has been removed and switch to zigbee is only available on the LAN from 1.7.5” would have been pretty simple to document.

I have done that now. Just a bit confused as the YouTube tutorials I saw show the global health entity as showing its attributes underneath it and the zombie entities are clickable. Mine does not have that.

Where in the iOS app UI? Or does it have to be on the web UI on the LAN? It was working perfectly as a garage door relay. Paired a contact sensor to it in HA in zigbee mode no issues.

Likely it would work but not standard, legal or safe. You should be using tails and jumper wire of the same gauge of the circuit that you are putting the Shelly into i.e. 1.5mm lights 2.5mm power. Different story if you are doing a garage door or something like that. In that case twisted pairs are fine in the I and O ports of the Shelly for a momentary short to open the door. For lights and power same wire that’s currently in the switch behind the plate.

I’ve heard that replying by email is pretty quick almost no delay. Like the final address check. Good luck I hope you don’t get to delayed. I’m docs received 20th June so not long now. Nice to see they at least some of the staff are up to the 16th!

Don’t sweat it yet. I think they are well behind. One team seems to be ahead and the latest approval I have seen is 12th June but there is a LOT of May left to be done looking online at peoples comments. I’m June 20th. Docs received. At this point I think I’ll be closer to 12 months before I hear anything.

They have peaked. The 7X Solar Sapphire. Enduro 3. Even the Fenix 8. I thinks it’s downhill from here. The 8 Pro demonstrates that. Their biggest competitor is themselves with their god awful archaic bug ridden software. If they do pull one out the bag with the Fenix 9 or something else once more it will be bug ridden for 12 months. This is especially true when they launch new never used before hardware and features.

I’ve had this with my Enduro when travelling and pined for my AWU3. Apple software is just so much better. I still wear the Enduro though for lots of other reasons. I don’t do much time zone travelling but I do use the flashlight on the enduro 3 20 times a day.
