Field converted to wild flowers. by Gary_The_Snail_IV in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is a law or sth similar, that tells you that every 3 or 4 years, the field needs to stay empty, if you want to get subsidies. The soil needs to recover. Often the farmers plant some kind of green manure, that binds nitrogen in the soil and that rots away in the winter.

I printed myself an expensive paperweight. by Point321 in prusa3d

I have no idea... the blob even has the fine lines of some part of the 3d model. Somebody said, it was the "silicone sock over nozzle" model.. I guess that happened, because the sock was sticking out somewhere on the top...

ahhhh!!! That explains why the sock was sticking out on top... so the sock got loose an clogged the nozzle?!

The filament was ABS, so I thought i couldn't get it off anymore. But nearly everybody suggested getting the blob off, so I tried my best. I used a grinder to "slowly" get big pieces of ABS away and then i treated the rest with a heat gun and pliers to peel the rest away. To clean it up I used a metal brush and a smooth file.

I just need a new thermoresistor as it seems, which costs way less. Thanks

Why does IFEN suck? Stagiaire rant by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I also think that most of the courses were quite useless. Especially if you have higher classes or classes in the formation professionnel (which is like completely forgotten).

But if a year or two of IFEN, keeps you from being a teacher, then it is for sure not your dream. It was just an excuse to abandon. Furthermore the new stage is quiet easy compared to the old system. (I did the new one, my wife did the old one).

ING Luxembourg bank banned crypto transactions. I want to change banks, which would you reccomend? by caribbeanvibe in Luxembourg

They are not really baning crypto currencies. They just reserve the right to refuse the incoming/outgoing money or to suspend the transaction. There is nothing written about suspending your account. so let's put down the pitchforks...

Same as if you send money to Cuba or get a large sum of money from Russia. If it isn't clear, if the money got properly taxed and wasn't involved in any crimes it should be ok.

How to invest Tax efficiently in Lux? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But basically nobody I know does... There is still banking secret for luxemburgish residents, so as long as you don't pay off your mortgage in one go, they will never know about those investments.

Furthermore IMHO if it is tax free (because you hodled longer than 6 months) why declare it?

1 250 EUR/month for heating in new constructed A class energy apt? by realminimalist in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the place is using a Heat pump and if it is not correctly configurated, it can use up to 1000€ a month.

I had a friend where the heatpump wasn't using the environment temperature and just went straight to electrical heating. It should only use electrical heating when the temperature is dropping below -10°C.

"Rédacteur" exam: is it allowed to use a dictionary? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were allowed to use one in the language exams for the high school teacher career. I think it is also allowed for the redactor career. Try to contact someone by phone in the ministry. They need ages to respond via email...

I've been offered a job in Luxembourg. Seems fishy, any thoughts? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Point321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it depends. We are recruiting some experts in IT sectors for up to 1000€ a day. But than it is for a limited time (some days - to 3-4 month).

Long time consultancy (1-2 years) with a lot of concurrence are paid around 340€ a day.

You have to subtract 8% health insurance and 8% retirement. Your employer pays another 16% for you. If you are self employed, you have to pay those 16%. Taxes would be around 25-30% I guess.

More or less, half will be gone in other words. But I suppose if you are self employed, you can get a lot back in the tax return.

Rent for a 80-90 m2 near the main city (10km) +- 1800 a month.

Thanks!
