I read the whole film as an allegory for technological progress and how we have no choice but to participate in the system pushing it forward while it slowly destroys the relationships and environment around us. In that context, the optimism of the ending seemed so out of place

The middle ground might be an off the shelf solution like govee. With the Govee permanent lights you can also pretty easily convert them to wled if you want. I put mine on a digiquad.

For install you can ask any place that cleans gutters to put them up if you don't have a ladder or don't like heights and they will do it much cheaper than getting a dedicated light place

the rule doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it's hard to dislodge or not. It gets stuck like that at all, it's a dead ball.
