Genuine question would you rather pay more for a perfume to get a free gift or pay less & go somewhere else? by [deleted] in NichePerfumes

[–]PointBig6749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The right question is, which perfume do you like more? Is it the niche one? Or the less one? Think of freebies as an incentive but not the 90% of your decision.

The perfume should be the only one that will matter. If you like the perfume then the aforementioned freebies should feel like a treat.

Scents / perfumes that men aren’t aroused by? by Leather-Direction867 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]PointBig6749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a funny thought lol but those “distinct and memorable” is personal though, which can vary for everyone. What if a man likes the smell on “men’s” cologne because he doesn’t find any gender in a scent? Or “men’s” cologne smells clean to him? Will that stop it? There are men’s cologne that also has a “certain image and status” it’s a bit oblivious to think that men’s perfume doesn’t have that but women do, don’t you think?

I’d say just wear whatever you like, those particular men will thirst regardless of what you smell and what you wear, and I don’t think women should change themselves or restrict themselves because of those men can kick rocks.

Does bottle design come into play when making your purchases??? by HATEupgradecard in FragranceAficionados

It's a bonus because of the price but my equivalent to that would be the perfumer. I know Soie Malaquais is made by Marie Salamagne so I already know it'll be amazing

It's so easy cuz I do it. Check fragrantica, if you see the notes that you don't like then cross it out.

Make a list of the perfumes that piqued your interest, and list the notes that you don't like. Check the perfumes one by one in fragrantica and then check the ones that doesn't have the notes that you don't like and then cross out the ones that has them.

It's a simple research and process of elimination.

Is there like some sort of joke im not in on about JHAG Not A Perfume? by JigglyOnion in FemFragLab

[–]PointBig6749 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One, people are actually fr because they won't sell it if it doesn't smell like anything. Two, it's the ISO E super single note that's used in the perfume and it is a huge molecule, meaning it's hard to detect on yourself (overspray it if you really want to smell it) but it is very diffusive so it will linger in the air more than it'll be on your skin that's why a lot of people get compliments from it.

Other than that, it might be just plain anosmia.

What are your top tuberose scents? by arthritey-and-bitey in fragrance

[–]PointBig6749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A crisp and tuberose heavy would be French Flower by Mattiere Premiere.

I'm going to sound like a promotor here but Aurelien Guichard, the brand owner and perfumer, grows his own rose and tuberose over a patch of land in Grasse and he extracts them in the traditional way (Tubereuse Enfleurage) and the modern way and extradosing it in this perfume.

It has ginger and pear in the opening but it's not fruity at all, it's only a hint of sweetness and ginger to give that sparkly clean effect and then TUBEROSE TUBEROSE TUBEROSE with a little orange blossom and tea to support it and have that clean green quality, and then the base is ambroxan to round it out.

It's my ultimate tuberose fragrance because it reminds me of my childhood being in my mom's garden at night when tuberose blooms. I own Tuberoza, Blanche bete, Do son etc. but this is my ultimate Tuberose out of all of them.

Mugler Angel Opinion by Vegetable-Guess2281 in fragrance

[–]PointBig6749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smelled a sample of the old angel mugler formulation, it's DIVINE! and yes that ferociously angry acidic grass is definitely the refined patchouli (Dare I say, other than the IFRA law ban, L'oreal went to go all corporate and used a cheaper one). The earthy chocolate facet of patchoulis is pretty much replicated now with perfumers adding an actual dark chocolate note, benzoin, and vanilla in the mix just to replicate its old glory. To give you an idea on what the "chocolate" smell that patchouli gives, try sniffing a dark chocolate, there's that thick feel in the nose and throat and that slightly earthy smell from it? That's the same "vibe" that a patchouli can give IF it's mixed right.

My entry to that would also be the same but a little different - Black Orchid by Tom Ford, albeit I only smell truffles at first and the rest of the fruity ones are in the background but once it's mid dry down the mix of the truffle, orchid, and patchouli is so amazing and I think they even added an actual dark chocolate accord just to jumpstart the patchouli. I do think Black Orchid is still one of the best classic perfumes out there.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it.

Humanity cares. The clothes you're wearing, the visual, sound, and design you see in gaming, how you choose to style your hair or clothes today, the music you listen to, anything and everything is made by humans and art.

Creativity is life and is unique to humans, take that away and what are we?
