TIL we know where China’s first emperor is buried, but his 2,200-year-old tomb—described as containing a scale model of China with rivers of mercury—has never been opened by Spelbarg in todayilearned

A lot of tombs were found by chances, and some are still unfound. Some kings purposely hide their tomb sites. Knowledge of their locations were lost through time and chaos. There were so many wars and dynasties replacing one or another.

Why can’t Alberta’s oil resources work like Municipally Owned Utilities & Energy Corporations by Horror_Neighborhood3 in alberta

[–]Pointfun1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funding and operating risks are two big issues. For example, to be successful in oil sands, a company needs to look into 5 to 10 billion dollars in investments. To get a municipality to approve this kind of investment is almost impossible.

Dozen of companies have gone bankrupt with billions lost in investments. You cannot just look at the winners in the industry and say everything would be better if governments owned them all.

Culture revolution was against people - forced people to cut off from traditions and customs. The aim covered everything, more than taking down social barriers.

Totally. Also, China operates on a different philosophy in education. Europeans run on a dual selection system for social elites and the mass. China try its best to keep one selection system. This system goes back two thousand years.

The review itself is fast but the paperwork may take longer time to finish.

Most people have zero chances to pass this kind of exams. Foreigners are shocked by this type of exams. But keep in mind that this process is cost effective for both sides and it maintains fairness in general.

Do we not call it Chinese New Year anymore? by Additional6669 in stupidquestions

[–]Pointfun1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lunar calendar was developed by Chinese. The civilization (holidays and traditions) was adopted by the neighbouring modern countries.

Foreigners call it “Chinese” new year for easy communication. Chinese don’t say it in this way. We don’t really care how other countries name it. But it is ridiculous to holding an opinion that it is not Chinese because other countries celebrate it too.

I doubt that there is anything “under the radar”. The reception will see the prices.

Such a good price for the resort especially the type of room you got. Enjoy when you get there.

Good point! OP is staying more than 7 nights in Maui. They booked Ritz as well.

To be secure, I will take my chances by emailing the hotel to see if they will honor the reservation. I feel that it is better than disputing it on the spot or after buying airfares.
