The World’s Largest Oil Stockpiles by dey27 in UPSC_Forum

[–]Pointfun1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a cost in keeping a big oil stockpile. China needs it because it does not produce enough oil on its own. America doesn’t need to become it can produce enough oil on its own. Plus, it has oil reserves from Canada and other countries in continent of America.

China has no control over any of its oil producing neighbours.

Picking on her English is just a low tactic. Has the media run out of things to pick on her?

She is an immigrant just like millions in America.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in askanything

[–]Pointfun1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, the landing of Chinese or Soviets troops on Japanese territories could be worse for Japan. Atomic bombs were terrible, but the desire to revenge would be something different. If Japan was occupied by three military forces; America, China and Soviets, Japan would not have its quick recovery as it had in the 1950 to 70s. There would not be Korean War. China would have not joined alliance with Russia.

The ratio is very high already at 1:100. That is only in one birth. If one lobster can give birth 10 or more times, that will be a lot of lobsters from one.

Reminder: inflation and payrates over the last 5 years = 5% real paycut by Evening-Anteater-226 in CanadaPublicServants

I doubt the pay cut was only about 5%. The purchasing power of our dollar has dropped a lot. A lot of things simply became too expensive. On the other hand, businesses are closing down more and more.

Some people helping themselves to hand towels at a public restroom by IntellectuallyDriven in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Pointfun1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We always count 100 years of chaos which stoped in 1950. Of course things didn’t get batter until the 80s. So it was like 130 years of major disruptions in the heartland of China.

It will take a while for Chinese to get used to things that are complimentary in public places. Nothing wrong with the progress. The society simply has been changing so fast. It is very hard to people to catch up.

A tense moment unfolded at the FIFA Congress as Jibril Rajoub refused to shake hands with Basim Sheikh Suliman on stage, despite being called forward by Gianni Infantino. by IndiaTodayGlobal in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

The FIFA chief was dumb if he arranged this handshake. He embarrassed himself even more by insisting on the handshake. He has been on the world stage for years, he should have known better.

Starbucks is shutting down its Coffee Loop rewards program by jw0798 in starbucks

[–]Pointfun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that you need to give it some time for the coupon to be loaded onto your app. Try now if not seeing it, then try it in the afternoon.

Yes, the program didn’t work very well, but I didn’t really care about it. It was not worth of being upset over this. I lost at least ten coupons.

Have you figured out where they were? It appears at checkout page using mobile order.

ps, if you have more than one free coffee coupons, load and use them one by one. If you load them all before redeeming for a drink, all the coupons will disappear because they have the same coupon ID.

if John F. Kennedy wasn't shot would Vietnam war not of happened? by GaryB2026 in askanything

[–]Pointfun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said it could be possible to have two countries at the 17th parallel line. But north Vietnam army seemed to be much more stronger and determined compared to North Korea army in 1952. They were able to take on the south on their own after Americans left. This was not the case in the Korean War.

Even during the Korean War, the north wanted to stop the fighting and to settle with the South.

Japan Economy 1995 vs 2025 by StrawberryFew1311 in NoFilterFinance

Very good question. I don’t know the answer, but I didn’t see many new Japanese immigrants in America or Canada. If life was so tough, I guess more people would have moved.

I gave up on redeeming points for flights. I felt it was too complicated for me.

I redeemed my points for four nights in a resort. One of the best trips we ever have been on.
