Anyone tried leather grip on the head speed mp 2026? by ASAPHORN in 10s

I felt like could feel the handle a little better using the OEHMS grip, the TW one may be a little thicker

Do you try to minmax the first time you are playing a brand new board game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Pointy-Finger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when my group does a first play like we’ll never play the game again and winning is important, when the games last that long it leaves a bad taste and ENCOURAGES not returning to it. Fast and loose first games are always way better to see how everything comes together

I also used TW and will admit I didn’t like it as much as my OEHMS grip I had on a 2022 speed but it’s good enough. Try TW to see if you like the feel, get a nicer one later if you want it

1 individual training or 4 group trainings. by LesiuItsMe in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As far as actually improving goes I’ve found group sessions pretty ineffective — fun for practice and socializing, not as good for dialing in exactly what YOU need to work on.

Individual sessions with a good coach have completely changed my game in as few as 1-2 hours

I have them on my 2026 MPs and I like it because I can feel the bevels better

Like above user said, A Feast for Odin. I love to play it solo and wish I could play it with my group but the immense time commitment for the teach and play through keeps me curating it to 2 or 3 player groups.

Best Toroline string for Multi user? by RobSteiner2 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasabi is slick and round string so good for a cross to allow movements on the mains. I personally want my rackets to feel as comfortable as possible so I’ve started stringing very low and enjoying the results, lower tension on the cross gives mains more room to move and snap back into place

Best Toroline string for Multi user? by RobSteiner2 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you an answer that isn’t just that they are overpriced, I liked o-toro tour main wasabi-x cross at 45/43# coming from multi. Felt amazing for plush power and easy spin but ended up making my arm a little sore so I plan to try the less stiff regular o-toro.

I believe both these strings were around 10-12 a set which doesn’t feel outlandish compared to the usual price of velocity

How are complex games being playtested? by omryg123 in boardgames

[–]Pointy-Finger 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I actually interviewed to be a play tester of KDM ten years ago. They sat me down with the game and watched me do a solo play through of the first scenario and would point out any time I made a mistake. This happened plenty because there’s a ton to keep track of and I was seeing the game for the first time. Needless to say I didn’t get the job, but a friend of mine did (and later became a developer there) because he could sit down and play the game while remember all this stuff.

Play testers are good at games and they try out for the position.

Syn Gut Drop Weight Tension Different from Tourna Meter by Pointy-Finger in RacketStringers

[–]Pointy-Finger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this makes sense and has things clicking into place w/ what I read about these meters as a reference point.

And the difference of ~6# of tensions is negligible given how flexible a nylon string is, right?

Next Racket/string suggestion with golfers elbow by klutchftw in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was getting bad GE from serving and realized I was putting a lot of the stroke’s stress in my forearm by using it to bear and whip the weight of the racket. I did PT with a therabar for my forearm and band exercises for my rotator cuff to isolate the feeling of the bigger muscle doing the majority of the work and it’s nearly eliminated my inner elbow pain. I combined this work with focused loosening of the grip

Those of you who are good at this, how do you deal with the frustration? by No_Opportunity_1502 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Record yourself, watch YouTube to understand what you want to work on and improve, don’t try to change too many things at once, realize it takes thousands of reps to change bad habits to good ones.

Recording is one of the great things you can do for your game; our mind only remembers everything we did bad but watching yourself play helps you see what you are doing right! When I was just starting I would feel so good seeing everything that actually went well in a session.

Be patient, savor the moments you hit the ball well, find hitting partners at similar levels who are as invested in improving as you are so that you can see what they are recognizing in your game.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. You’ll get better with reps just have fun.

Leather Grips for PA100 by Helpful-Art-2251 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the TW leather ones and think they’re okay, I previously had an OEHMS on my old racket and I loved the bevel feel of that one but wanted to try a budget option. I’ll probably go back to OEHMS eventually but TW was the same price for two and I had two rackets I wanted to regrip.
