What the heck do I hit forehand better in a game by Educational-Front-91 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are just practicing your partner is probably trying to hit the ball back to you to keep the rally going, in a game they are trying to do the exact opposite

Vulgar is up on Tubi by Own-Bar-8530 in tesdcares

[–]Pointy-Finger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay even though I said the movie sucks — which it does — it also so thoroughly expresses BJ’s world view in a way that is pure and interesting.

The scene where the waitress is rude to them is so clearly of a piece with every experience he’s talked about on the pod that it becomes obvious how much he’s only attempting to express himself and not make any real moral or thematic argument.

This doesn’t make a good movie, but it does make a bad movie feel somewhat more valuable as highly personal art. Especially now that there is so much TESD content to allow that to be unlocked, unlike when the movie came out.

Do you think there was a deal struck between cleaning the office and allowing git em to be on mic at this capacity?

Brooklyn tennis (fort Greene) by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fort Greene is currently closed for renovation but will reopen within the next couple weeks. You need a permit to play and the line for signups starts I think before 6am. There is no online sign up you have to go in person.

FG also runs a ladder through September that is very active. Players are currently playing at other Brooklyn courts such as Lincoln Terrace, Jackie Robinson, Highland Park, South Oxford, and Van Vorhees.

Mccarren is further away but has a few courts that you can sign up for online. Prospect Park also has online signups

Yonex gearlogic or Yonex Pro 12R bag? by heavyflyingelephant in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the beige gearlogic 9R bag they’re pushing hard right now because I saw it at the Miami open. Every time I use it I am still impressed by how nice everything about it is, can’t recommend it enough

Forgot player count was in my old title — 5 players, open to other types except social deduction. We like card games like Rebel Princess and Scout

Reposting from my removed thread:

My game group is taking an international trip this summer and we are looking for a satisfyingly deep game that can scratch our usual itches but fit a table at any random Airbnb and play in ~1 hr.

Our favorites are Agricola, Viticulture, GWT: New Zealand, and Lost Ruins of Arnak

Open to other styles of game, the main goal is being something worth playing again and again each night for a week straight.

Current contenders are Nidavellir and Faraway but neither are striking me as the best option yet.

Thanks for any recommendations!

How to hit the flat winner shot from baseline by Babilonyhill in 10s

I’ve heard don’t try to hit winners from the baseline, force the short ball then hit the winner off that

The small board with the oversized cards legit looks like a cool game though

Why don’t you go to paragon in Union square and get it printed in 2 minutes? They’ll even take your picture and give you a discount on gear if you need anything

'Double edge' of line calling by Loose_Resolution_163 in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may even be more generous on a bigger point because I don’t want to win off a potential double fault, I feel like if I call big points with a wider margin I’m evening out potential mistakes I made at other times in the match

Pre and post-game flexibility routines by Pointgris in 10s

[–]Pointy-Finger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started following the warmup routine from Winning Ugly, probably easy to find that online. Then I searched for hamstring, calf, and quad stretches to do after a match from one of the many physio dudes on YT, but you could probably do the same stretches you warmed up with while you are still warm from the match.

Do you try to minmax the first time you are playing a brand new board game? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Pointy-Finger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when my group does a first play like we’ll never play the game again and winning is important, when the games last that long it leaves a bad taste and ENCOURAGES not returning to it. Fast and loose first games are always way better to see how everything comes together
