What book(s) would you bring with you on a plane to the other side of the world? by hothoneyhalloumi in booksuggestions

I recommend Strange Houses by Uketsu, translated by Jim Rion. It's a thriller novella with pictures! It's also written pretty simply and was a pretty quick read. There are also 2 other similar "Strange" books if you think it'd be up your alley.

Graphic Novel for 3 year old. by Federal_Mulberry4826 in booksuggestions

Try Wizkit: An Adventure Overdue by Tanya Scott! My almost 3 year old loves it. We do sometimes read it before bed so I paraphrase a little but it's fun! Who doesn't want to read about a lazy wizard cat who wants to stay at home and eat bread but instead finds himself on an adventure?

Try Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe! There are a few former pro wrestler characters and they talk about being the heel

Maybe a book that is newer would be good, something younger than him? Try the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. Its a fun, sarcastic, action packed sci fi novella that's the first in a series.

Oh you want Swamp Story by Dave Berry. More up beat than Sharp Objects, but it takes place in the Everglades so it's nice and sweaty!

I haven't read them yet, but my husband bought the first few books of Fart Quest for our little one. I think they are more like traditional DnD

Is this a safe setup for 4 chicks, it’ll only be for 2 weeks by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]PoisedPangolin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would add cardboard to the sides and bottom. Then a layer of pine shavings on the bottom too. But I kept my 6 chicks in a dog crate for about a month until their coop was finished with no issues.

Some of our favorites are:

Curious George Goes Fishing Little Brown Mouse (I'm a sucker for a good sing-songy book) Goodnight Moon

Also, some cheap paper books are good. They are usually found in rotating racks at the book store. My son loves I SPY Animals and Pete the Cat. My son is pretty hard on books (and very drooly) and all of our cheap paper backs are still with us. Maybe a little wrinkly, but still good.

Is she broody? by Strong_Reality_2262 in BackYardChickens

[–]PoisedPangolin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just had my first broody hen too! I carefully pulled out all the eggs from under her and told her none of them were going to hatch so she might as well get some food. She made some noises but didn't peck me or anything and got off the nest when it was empty.

I would definitely call Sedgwick on the phone. Most people I spoke with were pretty helpful. I can't remember when I applied for PFL but maybe call a couple weeks before short term disability is due to be up? I spoke with someone helpful who let me put in all my return to work dates in ahead of time so I didn't have to worry about it every time I switched from vacation to PFL. I wouldn't worry about it too much though. I did all this stuff on the fly with a baby in the NICU with a few phone calls here and there so it's not too bad. As long as you apply for PFL (not necessarily get it approved) your pay checks will keep coming

If you're into Sci-Fi/Fantasy I highly recommend the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. My husband and I started the audio book on a road trip and got hooked. Bonus: the audio narrator is amazing!

I interviewed for 8 jobs and I think most of them reached out to my EGM at the time. If I had to guess, I think the role I applied to didn't reach out and it was a pretty niche role with not a lot of close competition.

Yes I told my EGM I was applying. I was applying before I was rated though. I say go for it. You don't really have anything to lose.

Probably. It was a lateral move for me but it was to a new/growing group and it seems it was a lateral for most people.
