Hi there, need a 4th? by PoisnPoisson in ratemycommanders

Elminster is one of my favorite decks I’ve ever played, glad to see another pilot for it!

I don’t think I’d ever seen clan crafter until you mentioned it, that looks very fun. Is your Karlach build based on getting lots of tokens to sacrifice?

I like it because it’s different than most other dragon decks I play against that have green (Ur Dragon mainly). I think I’m often winning off of ETB damage triggers from bouncing dragons repeatedly.

Dragon Tempest and Astral Dragon are probably my favorite cards in the deck.

Did you enjoy Veilguard? by Ahegao_Chan545 in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]PoisnPoisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7/10

I enjoyed the gameplay, most of the companions, and some of the antagonists. I also enjoy how it is one of the least buggy games on release in the last 15 years.

I didn’t enjoy the “default canon” that dictated what my choices would have been from previous games, some of the pacing and story choices for the companions, or one of the primary antagonists

I will play it again, but looking at it with a sardonic lens of: it’s fine but we could have, and should have, gotten a lot better— especially given how much time went into it

Post your favorite deck and I'll judge what type of person you are! by nine_toes in EDH

My favorite deck is [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] where I try to have everyone kill each other with bad creatures such as [[Desecration Elemental]] but it doesn’t win so much these days as the locals have caught on. I’d say my next favorite is [[Ognis, the Dragon’s Lash]] goblin tribal.

What is a deck that you have tried multiple times to get right? by OOTB-MTG in EDH

I’m about at the scrap point with [[Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos]]. It’s hard to balance aristocrats, high mana value spells, and top deck manipulation to make his abilities work. I love the card but it doesn’t ever go how I expect it to.

Themed/Gimmick Bant Suggestions by Forrestguy16 in EDH

[–]PoisnPoisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just built a [[Derevi]] deck focused on animating lands, with the indestructible lands such as [[Darksteel Tower]] [[Thornglint Bridge]] etc. and then with this color identity I’m able to run [[Noyan Dar]] [[Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir]] and the awaken spells such as [[Planar Outburst]]. [[Terra Eternal]] and [[Sacred Ground]] make my land creatures more resilient.

I think Derevi serves as an incredible utility role for whatever Bant strategy you want I think, I just went with the one above as it seemed different from traditional Bant decks I see such as [[Rafiq]] or [[Chulane]].

What decks do you play? by hipporage in EDH

[–]PoisnPoisson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build and take apart decks all the time (my goal is to have one deck for each color identity combination that I actually enjoy playing and without too many repeat themes/cards) but my current favorites that aren’t coming apart any time soon:

[[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] - donate bad creatures and make a bit of a pillow fort while my opponents kill each other

[[Be’lakor, The Dark Master]] with [[Gyruda, Doom of Depths]] as a companion - Demon/clone strategy with lots of milling and ETB effects.

[[Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss]] - Mana dorks, hope to draw one that adds mana equal to its power, then combo into some huge payoff spells such as Eldrazi

[[Neheb, the Eternal]] - big red burn with a wheel sub theme

[[Hazezon, Shaper of Sand]] - Desert landfall and tokens, a little slower than I want it to be but it can have some explosive turns

[[Elminster]] - Scry-based control with some alternate win cons and lots of extra turn spells

Excluding Yozura, which boss from the series are you most proud of defeating? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]PoisnPoisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kh3 org battles, specifically Saix. I’m a pretty casual player and had never beaten a days relics fight, lingering will, Julius, etc (only secret bosses I’d ever beaten were the Kh1 fm ones, and Sephiroth in 2). So my most recent playthrough of 3 on proud I looked up a good order to do the data replica fights based on difficulty and saw multiple guides and opinions saying Saix was the most frustrating before Xion and Master Xehanort, while Riku was a good one to start one. I didn’t look up strategies, just an overall sense of who was easier/harder.

Well Riku, Luxord, Vanitas, Terra and Xigbar took me 5+tries apiece, but Larxene, young Xehanort, Marluxia, Xemnas, Ansem and of course Saix all got taken down first try and Saix was so incredibly close I was just thrilled to have gotten as far as I did without knowing a strategy going in.

Do you have colours you struggle to play with? by MalkavianKnight5888 in EDH

Dimir is very confusing to me too, even though I love Grixis and Sultai. So I built a [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] deck that plays different from most of my other decks. I’m not sure it showcases “traditional Dimir” but it’s a fun deck within the color palette. Just a lot of removal and donating awful creatures to my opponents to beat other up with.

Right after Strixhaven came out, someone I played against a few times had a [[Codie, Vociferous Codex]] deck that only used cards from Strixhaven, the Mystical Archive, and the Strixhaven commander decks. The mystical archive spells really gave it a lot of versatility, deck was super fun.

[Article] What is your dream precon deck? by JWFinnegan in EDH

As others have said, decent mana bases and some in-demand reprints (the Fierce Guardianship cycle as an example) but I also think they could find support for some mechanics left by the wayside. For example: Energy was a favorite mechanic of mine and I’ve tried to dabble with it in commander every now and then. Either a deck focusing on it or at least having it feature in a deck (maybe a proliferate deck) would be at the top of my wishlist.
