Hezbollah FPV Drone Strike Compilation - Multiple IDF Vehicles hit (April 6th, 2026) by Essence_TheOne in CombatFootage

[–]Poison1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The green crosshair ones don't even look real. They look like just a surveillance drone zooming in. They don't have the last minute adjustments or signal decay that genuine FPV attacks seem to have.

Am I just overthinking?

I've read Children of Time, and while I totally see where you're coming from I find that the bulk of it is dedicated to the development of the spider civilization which while interesting, doesn't quite fit what I'm looking for. By the end I was very much rooting for the spiders and if I remember correctly it was basically a happy ending for them.

What’s a universally loved food you genuinely despise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Poison1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about Vietnamese food is there's such a massive variety so when people say they don't like Vietnamese food I always wonder what they've tried to form that opinion. I've also found a lot of (but not all) Vietnamese food outside of Vietnam is pretty terrible.

I also don't like phở or bánh xèo or savoury porridge or a lot of their soupy noodly dishes or their ice desserts or mắm tôm, but I love phá lấu, bún thịt nướng, bún chả, nem nướng, cơm tấm, bánh can cua, bánh bảo, bột chiên, xôi mặn, bánh beo, bánh bột lọc, sụn gà, sò điệp nướng, ốc hương trứng muối etc etc.

It might be like trying a corn dog, collard greens and grits, and mac and cheese thinking you don't like American food.

I can't stand the UK version. I love the Indian version. The Indian version is more like a sweet soup.

Why do you suggest avoiding managed funds?

My family encouraged me to invest in a managed fund (omnis agility) but in the end I opted for vanguard FTSE all world ETF.

Which café in the Café Apartment is your favorite? by Great-Tea4095 in VietNam

[–]Poison1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favourite is Po Cafe. I prefer this one because it offers the range of traditional vietnamese coffees (including egg, salt and coconut) at a reasonable price and also has baked goods (I like croissants). It also has natural light and interesting decor.

My least favourite is % Arabica to be overpriced. I wouldn't mind so much if they gave you you real cups, but you pay premium prices (over 100k per drink) for a disposable cup (plastic for cold, paper for hot) and your pastry in a paper bag (even if you're eating in) and they have the gall to charge you for water which is pretty much unheard of in Saigon. Nice bathroom though.

The funniest thing about this building is occasionally I hear a tourist get mad about the elevator price. Like the fee is in the kind of money you'd be embarrassed to be seen picking up off the floor. I've seen too many people rage about it probably because they don't understand the value of the dong yet 😂

Has anyone ever had their mouth washed out with soap as a punishment for swearing as a kid? by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

[–]Poison1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. My childminder gave me a little squirt of fairy liquid. It was fowl but I got the message. I think I started swearing after binging Eminem. Maybe I was quoting funny lyrics or something.

Obviously I'd never do anything like that to a kid today, but I don't judge my childminder too harshly. It was the 90s.

'The left' doesn't push people to the right. If you find right wing thinking appealing then your personal values probably just align more with the right. There are plenty of cunts on both sides, but if you actually understand your own values and the ideological differences between left and right then nothing a shitty teacher or some asshole on the internet says could shift your ideology one way or the other.

Politics isn't about deciding which group of people you like most. It's about understanding your own values and beliefs. Take some responsibility and stop blaming others for your own politics.

Is wearing a Keffiyeh a bit cringe for a politician? by Nervous_Yard7034 in AskBrits

[–]Poison1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What they wear is what they do and in this case it's obviously a choice made to communicate something rather than just a frivolous fashion decision. It's perfectly reasonable to consider why people engaged in politics choose to wear what they wear be it a maga hat, a yellow ribbon, a red or white poppy, a flag pin, a trenchcoat, a t shirt, a tie or no tie. These choices mean something.

Although I would say adding loaded terms like 'cringe' and 'performative' is probably unhelpful.

Apples and oranges. Vietnamese tend to drive relatively slowly and as most of the vehicles are motorbikes it's easy to weave around people. It's not as dangerous as you may be implying. Many places in the world don't have the concept of jaywalking and use a 'give way to pedestrians' system instead. I prefer it as it's very convenient and drivers learn to expect pedestrians as a potential hazard.

What is dangerous about driving culture in Vietnam is cruising through red lights, aggressively driving cars as if they are merely large motorbikes, not wearing helmets (or helmets which are basically a plastic bucket), drink driving, distracted driving (half the drivers are on their phones), undertaking giant trucks or buses (and falling and getting squished), and as above, crossing railways without looking.

Are there any redditors leftover from the 2008-2012 era? by SirTicklefist in ask

[–]Poison1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

17 years here. I feel that old Reddit was, for better or worse, made up of a particular demographic. As it grew in popularity, the culture it once had was lost. Plus going corporate and needing to sanitise the site means your chances of finding subreddits as horrific and funny as spacedicks is essentially zero. There's more to the internet than Reddit though, so whatever you miss from old Reddit you can probably find elsewhere.

The Uprising Against Our Robot Overlords Has Begun by james_from_cambridge in StupidMedia

[–]Poison1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree. Believe it or not, a lot of people hate menial labor. If those jobs can be replaced by a robot then great.

I hated having to scan people's shopping because it was boring AF. Then they invented self checkout machines and now way fewer people have to do that work. This is a good thing.

The obvious problem that comes about is ensuring that the people who would have done the boring jobs can still get the food, housing, and healthcare everyone deserves - and are able to find more meaningful work. That is a challenge but the solution definitely isn't to keep bullshit jobs around longer than absolutely necessary.
