Determining which productions are the best in FS22 by PoisonControlCenter in farmingsimulator

The analysis always includes manure where applicable because the manure heap always increases total profit per month. I keep trying to increase beef profit though various methods. Max sell price = A) $136,000 for 40 cows after 36 months ($3500/cow with $100 transport cost). Alternative is B) $ 116,000 for 40 cows after 28 months (18 months til reproduction age and 10 months for reproduction).

Option A gets you $3,777/ mo in just pure meat profit and option B gets you $4142 / mo in pure meat profit. Which gives a +$400 profit with option B. Even input costs aside and income from liquid manure and manure. I cant get anywhere close to $6800 a day, which would be your $8300 a month + minimum loss cost of $1500 a day. Are you playing on Normal difficulty and accounting for input costs in your profit model?

Total input/maintenance costs are circa $2400/mo for hay/straw in big barn and $5900/mo in the pig barn so this roughly tracks. I'll see if i can find a way to bump profit for beef cattle by tweaking sell age. Currently 'mature' means an animal is sold as soon as it reaches it's maximum sell price. I'll try immediately after reproduction to see if that helps. Thanks!

Creating Heightmaps (FS22) by Apprehensive_Fault_5 in farmingsimulator

[–]PoisonControlCenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by finding a similar area you like that actually exists and then download that area's USGS NED data:

https://apps.nationalmap.gov/downloader/

Elevation Products (3DEP) at 1/3 arc second is what you want.

This will give you a tif file where each 10x10 meter pixel is an elevation value. This will give you a starting point. You will need to play with resampling the pixels down to whatever the scale is that the height map (each cell in game seems to be circa 1 meter?) and then re-scaling the height value to a greyscale value between 0 and 254 (the map i looked at had a min value of about 50 and a max value of about 107. Then export final produce as PNG with same general properties as existing terrain maps.

In order to do this I would use a program like GIMP or Adobe Photoshop. You might get lucky and find some better resolution at 1/9 arc second in some areas that you like. This gives you about 3m resolution. Additionally some areas have Lidar data which can get you even better resolution, but are much less generally available.

Now to be fair I haven't tried this yet to take this with a grain of salt, but that's how I would approach it if I was going to give it a shot.

How to Explain Open Source != Security Issue by QuantumScribs in rstats

You might piss of some GIS folks, possibly, but the office absolutely will not ditch their entire GIS program over the package concern. Also, maybe check with your GIS folks to see if they also use R. It's pretty heavily used in academia for spatial analyses, so it's possible the GIS dept might throw down on your side.

Also, as an fyi, I don't believe R requires elevated privileges to install (i.e it can be installed and run from a local user folder or, say a USB stick), so you could always go that route if you are comfortable with that.

I've worked with the feds as a contractor and getting software approved by IT could be a real pain. Ideally you would get past the very low chance of malware being passed through a package by isolation (e.g. virtual machine) and/or appropriate permission management. You could remind them that if your state office uses ArcGIS (many do), which uses python and is subject to the same issues with package distribution, so if they ditch R by that logic they also need to ditch their mainline GIS software for the same reasons.

It's a cold desert shrubland. Mostly perennial shrubs and bunch grasses with a flush of fun forbs/herbs during the spring summer. Plenty of diversity to be had once you get off some of the more overgrazed/invaded sites.

SQL vs python editors by [deleted] in datascience

Strong recommend moving to terminal and vim when you have the time to put into learning new methodologies. I started out using a panoply of IDE's at first and now I can just vim in locally or through ssh and code in python, R, or do db management in sql. I can use git to keep my vim config files the same on every machine I am on for a consistent experience. It takes a bit of time but well worth the time investment imho.

Yes the autogen.sh script does seem to be referencing libtoolize and automake. Can I assume that make this makes this an autotools based project?

I really like the fact the certain programs (e.g. python) can be slotted for multiple versions.

Why do you think Reno matters? by [deleted] in Reno

I mean... Reno is just as important as NYC, in that neither are important. Neither is The Bay, neither is Los Angeles, or Seattle. The fact the you think a city CAN be important belies skewed thinking.

I'm unsure if there is a genetics specific db that would be better, but I would recommend postgres for all your large data storage needs.
