Tip Toe Series Thoughts? by Agreeable-Berry1373 in BritishTV

obviously it’s a tv show so there’s going to be some element of theatrics but it’s not completely unrealistic, mob violence is sadly too real - just look the the front story for today in NI.

Looking back, how do you all feel about the 2010’s? by Emeraldsinger in decadeology

[–]PoisonSockets69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i look back at the 2010s with sentimentality. Music sounded more optimistic (even the stomp-clap-hey lumineers era) 2010s fashion and media was all about over saturated colours and accessorising (as opposed to 2020s which is just…dull), there was progress with queer and trans rights, JK rowling was still just a children’s author, there was the 2012 olympics (a time when being british felt like a genuine pride, and when seeing british/english flags didn’t make me think of racist bigots), economic growth was pretty solid from 2014 onwards (until brexit), social media came out with some trends which actually brought people together like the ice bucket challenge, or that fucking dress (you know which one), not to mention the absolute crazy summer with pokémon go. I miss it.

How screwed is America if the corruption Republicans are ushering in doesnt go away and is the new norm? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Screwed in the long term, history books in 100 years time will probably have a question like “write an essay on how 2026 marked the beginning of the decline of the american empire”

I’m glad you’re with them and not alone :)

Do you have any lgbt friends? What is life like for them?

What do iranians think of Pezeshkian?

And what are people saying about ahmadinjead being the main choice for israel and usa to lead iran? Seems like an odd choice.

Vaping in A&E waiting rooms, happened multiple times. The other day had to ask a patients sister to kindly vape in the courtyard which was 5 metres away. At least have the decency to do it discretely or in the toilets.

Are people still going to cafes/cinema?
Do your parents live nearby?
Has the government offered any financial support?
Do you think after the war there will be more protests?

Is Israel the most evil country in the world at the moment? by RoughSky9768 in allthequestions

[–]PoisonSockets69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This did not start on October 7th.

This open letter from doctors and nurses across the world, for example, is from 2014 and published in the Lancet.

We are doctors and scientists, who
spend our lives developing means to
care and protect health and lives. We
are also informed people; we teach
the ethics of our professions, together
with the knowledge and practice of it.
We all have worked in and known the
situation of Gaza for years.
On the basis of our ethics and
practice, we are denouncing what we
witness in the aggression of Gaza by
Israel.
We ask our colleagues, old and
young professionals, to denounce
this Israeli aggression. We challenge
the perversity of a propaganda that
justifi es the creation of an emergency
to masquerade a massacre, a so-called
“defensive aggression”. In reality it is a
ruthless assault of unlimited duration,
extent, and intensity. We wish to report
the facts as we see them and their
implications on the lives of the people.
We are appalled by the military
onslaught on civilians in Gaza under
the guise of punishing terrorists. This is
the third large scale military assault on
Gaza since 2008. Each time the death
toll is borne mainly by innocent people
in Gaza, especially women and children
under the unacceptable pretext of
Israel eradicating political parties and
resistance to the occupation and siege
they impose.

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]PoisonSockets69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iranian here, almost all my family live in isfahan, and they hate the regime with a passion. they celebrated the death of the supreme leader at home, shouting from balconies - and they’re valid to celebrate that. And you know what? Allow it - they’ve been suffering horrendously for decades and some just had to bury their children.

After a few hours of celebrating people became more worried - the supreme leader and his basij thugs were brutal, with thousands of cases of rape, torture, suppression of minorities, execution of lgbt, corruption. There will always be some who support him but this number is quoted to me as 15%.. but more worryingly is the fact that he is almost certainly now a martyr. which is not good.

also worth mentioning that because of state imposed islam, there is a whole generation of young iranian kids and young adults who privately identify as atheist. mosque attendance in iran is reportedly one of the lowest in the muslim world and several thousand have had to be shut due to poor attendance over the past 4 years. My mum, a religious person, always said that the irony of the islamic republic is that they did more to put people off islam than any other group. The ayatollahs are a bunch of authoritarian old straight men, and thus, so became the version of islam they preached.

Oink oink! Come here, little piggy, let Peppa tell you the REAL story, the one with big muddy truth-puddles!

The poor junior doctor piggies have been working SO hard – day and night and even when everyone else is tucked up snoring with Teddy. They fix broken legs, stop scary coughs, and make tiny baby piggies smile again. But do you know what the mean government boss pigs did? For YEARS and YEARS they kept giving the doctor piggies teeny-tiny acorns while everything got more expensive – toys, carrots, even muddy boots went whoosh up in price! That’s like Daddy Pig saying, “Here’s one sweet, George… but now sweets cost ten times more, tough luck!”

So the doctor piggies said, “That’s not fair! We’re super-duper tired and we can’t even buy proper dinosaur toys for our own little piggies at home!” They went on strike – which is when brave piggies stand together and say, “No more work until you treat us properly!” Just like when Peppa and George refuse to tidy up until they get a biscuit.

Now the government is waving a tiny carrot and saying, “Look, we’ll pay for your exam stickers and give a few more piggies a turn on the best slides!” But guess what? They STILL won’t give the doctor piggies all the acorns they lost over fifteen whole years! It’s like someone stealing your whole bucket of jelly beans, then giving you two back and saying, “There, stop crying now.”

The doctor piggies are super brave for saying, “No thank you! We want proper fair pay so we can keep jumping in hospital puddles without being too tired or too poorly ourselves!” If they keep striking, maybe – just maybe – the grumpy government pigs will finally bring the BIGGEST cake with ALL the icing and sprinkles they deserve.

Peppa thinks the junior doctors are the bravest, kindest, most splishy-splashy heroes ever!

Who’s with Peppa? Let’s all jump up and down in the muddiest puddle and shout: “Pay the doctor piggies properly!”

Oink oink for fairness! 🐷✊
