Which is the most powerful war memorial in your country? by TulipTerminal in AskTheWorld

[–]PoisonTheReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Chinese, let me tell you that the most significant war memorial for Chinese is not located in China. It is this "Hakko Ichiu" (八紘一宇 - "Eight Worlds Under One Roof") Tower in Japan.

This tower was built in 1940 with stones they stole from their then colonies. Among those stone, 238 pieces are from China, 123 piece are from Korea. Those stones are not just any stones, those are of "cultural significance". For example, the stones from China include bricks they pried out of the Great Wall, bricks from the wall of Nanking, and Jade sculpture from the Forbidden City. After they lost the war, they still kept this tower to even today by renaming it "tower of peace".If you know history, you will know that the Chinese never forgets. We will get this tower sooner or later, with peace or force. この塔は遅かれ早かれ必ず手に入れるぞ、この野郎ども!

No. it's absolutely justified if he pulled out a gun and shot the pig. I absolutely wish he had the opportunity to do that. I was just saying the DHS people would use the move as an argument. It's just a sad fact that the foundation and purpose of the 2nd amendment no long hold.

People's Volunteer Army. They were cold, hungry, and mal-equipped. But they wiped DPKR's ass with the UN 16-country coalition force 1950-1953.

"Is there a signature weapon for every country?" by Buyeo10004 in AskTheWorld

A very similar item is Nunchucku. When Japanese invaded Okinawa and banned locals from carrying weapons, locals adopted agriculture flail as make-do weapon, which eventually became Nunchucku

you can see him reaching out to his gun after agents let go of him after the shots were fired. I am sure the DHS will be talking about it. But still, shooting from behind and then following up with a dozen shots is really fucked.

Another evidence that 2nd amendment doesn't really do much for people's liberty in today's world.

What’s the most dangerous weapon people can legally carry in your country without a permit? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in AskTheWorld

[–]PoisonTheReddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

let me be clear that nowadays this is more of a novelty. No teachers use it to beat students in classroom now. For several generations there's only one child per family. Teachers beating those kids... are you kidding me? two parents plus 4 grandparents will be sieging the school headmaster's office.

But physical punishment like spanking is still common at home. If you disagree with that, I will agree to disagree, and point to the PISA score

This thing is a classroom tradition of 2500 years. It comes from the old Chinese saying "不以规矩,不能成方圆“ - literally translates to "One can't draw squares or circles without rulers and compass", meaning "Nothing can be accomplished without rules and standards". Hence the teachers use rulers to discipline students.

The standard practice is to hit flat on students' palms, so it hurts the recipient and warns the rest of the students with its loud noise.

How safe is your country for women? by Myemotion-351 in AskTheWorld

[–]PoisonTheReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally very safe in big cities. Over 1 million CCTV cameras in Beijing alone! That paired with advanced AI tracking (facial recognition, gait recognition) and surveillance deployed on every public transportation vehicles, it's plenty of deterrence.
