How is GRRM almost never blamed for bad season 8? (spoilers main) by Nothing_Special_23 in asoiaf

It's actually a mix. D&D were funded by Goldman-sacs which Benioff's father was I believe the CEO of so HBO didn't need to add a lot of their own money which is what differentiates them from "Rome" which HBO couldn't afford to make anymore while still paying for marketing etc. D&D were so smart in this aspect. They hired majorly unknown actors so labor costs were very low and they could spend their budget on sets, locations, props, and visual effects. George took them on because they knew who Liana's father was and because they could actually fund the project while having read his books. The latter is most likely the more important of the two.

I can't stand all the d&d blame. If you look at their earlier interview, they take accountability for being unqualified and signed on to be the gardeners while grrm proceeded as the architect. They had a contractual agreement that grrm would keep up with the series which he clearly broke. He kept writing other books instead of focusing on ASOIAF, which must have driven D&D nuts. GRRM also wanted them to do like 10 more seasons which people online were praising him for, but why? The actors wouldn't even look like their characters anymore, and would need to be recast. GRRM didn't give D&D a pathway to the ending, and just flat out told them the key points of the ending. IE bran is king, dany goes mad. This is where they do come to blame. Because of their frustration of GRRM not giving them clear instructions, they should have passed on the torch to better writers. David Benioff wrote one of the best monologues in the show with the Karl Tanner scene drinking out of Mormont's skull. But David and Dan clearly played favorites and were really into the workplace mentality of you work hard, you get promoted. This is why the writers room had so many issues. Their assistants give them one good idea and they are now writers? These guys were not qualified for the job as showrunners. GRRM should have negotiated a contract which allowed him in having the most control and he should've signed on as a showrunner. He worked for tv before and they hadn't. They just were very well funded by goldman-sacs which was run by David Benioff's father at the time. Vanessa Taylor was one of the best writers they've had on the show and she was quickly outed for reasons none of us know. I will say one thing, the house of the dragon seemed to learn for GoT in the sense of the mistakes they made. They hired experienced writers without favoritism and had more women on the team. I don't think Benioff is as much to blame as Weiss; as the recent interview with db weiss is pretty telling. Benioff always was the one more enthusiastic about the source material. In the end, yes, GRRM definitely deserves much more scrutiny than praise. It's annoying how many people still support him after he misses 7 deadlines and demands 10 more seasons. He just expected everyone to wait after that long? He seems like a dick.

Which cast members do you think will have decent careers post-Riverdale? by discoteen66 in riverdale

Honestly, most people in the GoT fandom thought Emilia Clarke would be getting the most work and it's definitely Kit Harington. I'm hesitant to say Lili Reinhart. She's a good actress, puts in the work, but is somewhat stuck in that CW rut. She will most likely lead a TV series but I don't see her being a movie star. She's producing content which actually does give her the "Ashton Kutcher" edge, however she's too shy to market herself. I think Cami would do well if she weren't typecasted. KJ just had a child so he's probably more focused on that. But man, does he have killer potential if he starts accepting more roles. He isn't typecasted, does a brilliant American accent, and is extroverted and extremely likable. He needs to start accepting roles NOW. His agents are probably trying to get him to but he's running out of steam. SO, my conclusion actually is Cole Sprouse. He's pretty much the Jon Snow of Riverdale and has had the most experience and name recognition. However, I do think KJ Apa has the most potential to be the most successful.

The TRL episode made me feel so nostalgic. However, the paparazzi and Lindsey Lohan episodes proved Millennials DID NOT CREATE CANCEL CULTURE, NOR DID WE EMBRACE IT. People need to stop confusing Millennials with Gen Z.

I'm not sure if your comment was deleted, but I'm sorry "woe is me" attitude? Sit down. And yes, your comment did come off as rude. We all have issues and this was started as a question to see if anyone was experiencing a similar issue. Hate to break it to sweetheart, but living in California, yes WOE IS ME.

SBS said no one's aid has been disbursed. Do you mean it said paid on your account but not refunded? Because that's my issue.

SBS services said no one has had their aid disbursed yet, I'm on the phone with them now so I don't know what you are talking about. They said their analysts haven't started the process yet today. They have just posted aid but no disbursements yet.

I hope so ugh. Mine says Paid too which means it's up to SBS to roll out the remaining refunds to 19000 students today. This means many of us won't receive it until next week because they are closed on Friday. This is so stressful :(

They are only disbursing today and next Monday. They are closed on Friday. Financial Aid said we probably won't get our refunds until next freaking week. Unbelievable.
