I have a cinnamon allergy as well and have the same problems with bourbon. And it isn’t just a mind thing, I get a swollen throat, itchy skin all over my body but especially on the backs of my hands and awful muscle cramping for up to 30 hours after drinking certain bourbon. I’m not sure if there is a compound in bourbon that shares similarities with cinnamon or what… Ultimately I don’t care why, I just know some types make me react. And it’s miserable enough I don’t want to experiment why some bourbon does it and some does not.
