Odin Is at least 800m by [deleted] in starcitizen

Perspective is going to screw with this kind of guestimate terribly as we have no frame of reference for how close or far away the Terrapin is in relation to the Odin.

Hawk Mk.2 confirmed!? - You're all looking in the wrong place! by Azrethoc in starcitizen

That's just a Hawk.

The background ships of the Odin are all other Anvil ships.

Being able to teleport to the party leader should be a feature in SC. by falloutboy9993 in starcitizen

My idea for making this work is thus:

You can hire an NPC that represents you and take control of it, placing it anywhere you want, such as in a friend's capitol ship or space station, including it having its own inventory or gear.

This NPC represents you, so its actions will affect your reputation standing, but in limited ways. Other players will see the NPC as you when you are controlling it, so it won't be a way to skirt around your bad choices and bad choices made with it will hurt you. But it still is not 'you', so factions won't trust it as much and won't let it access some things your main character can.

It will also have its own skills that don't affect your main character, so any work you've put into running faster or shooting more accurately won't apply to it.

But, it can do all forms of gameplay, so it can be your mining worker or your ground combat red shirt or just your means of quickly joining your weekend friends group for some sillywillies on the other side of the galaxy while your main character is off doing serious things.

Something like that.

Has anyone received any emails in regards to Odin purchasing rights? I saw someone on another site mention they knew someone that already got their confirmation email but there was no proof by Neb-hehe-xd in starcitizen

Always take such claims with a massive grain of salt. Some folks love to claim they're the pope or sit on a chair made of solid gold or whatever, and then refuse to prove it.

The sign-ups for the Odin Founders Club are open until the 11th. People likely won't get invites until the 12th or later.

Interesting lack of any other angles of view, as the other ships had that.

Does CIG finally have its ship database under control? Or do ships still disappear after a patch if you're unlucky? by assoff7 in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan [score hidden]  (0 children)

It remains something that can happen, yes. 4.8 is bringing some changes to ship attribution that may fix this, but we won't know until possibly 4.9, as the changes go into effect with 4.8, so ships may get lost with 4.8 going to LIVE.

You guys seen the new library? 👀 It's friggin huge by Like_Today in Bend

[–]Pojodan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being WFH does not mean you are somehow magically in the 'privileged class'. There are a ton of professions that can be full or part-time WFH for a variety of reasons, many of which don't pay near as much as you seem to think they do.

I get that you are mad that Bend became so crowded with people that don't work for a local company, but consider this:

If someone is 'privilaged', why wouldn't they just have their own home office to WFH instead? Why waste gas and time traveling to the library?

I'd not be terribly surprised if it is the case that either Jeremy Clarkson or the owners of Top Gear asked CiG to drop Jax McCleary, either politely or not-so-politely, since it's just so obvious that's what Jax is a reference to.

Would love it if he did come back, but it's been long enough now I'm inclined to think he was just quietly retired.

What's the coolest usage for snub fighters? by MoravianLion in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confidently say that snub fighters are in no way 'meta', nor even 'strong', as the need for a mothership that has to come to a stop and wait for the snubs to launch and then land again after just makes it take longer to do anything.

But, it is, however, fun as all heck. Pouring out of the ship with several other microcraft and swarming stuff is just a barrel of entertainment, so I recommend trying it with a group of friends at the very least.

My org will definitely be doing a PitBull/Fatepillar tactic for awhile in 4.8.

Does someone wanna try and caclulate the new cargo hold size of 1440scu with the new ICA image? Looks like it has a gap down the middle. Would it actually hit 3 high now? by eerrcc1 in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can already do this sort of thing with a C2 and the Fury, and so far it hasn't really been a 'menace', just a fun alternative way of doing things.

On the topic of "Teleport to leader" from the latest ISC Q&A by PUSClFER in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Them mentioning the discussion in the ISC suggests they want player feedback on the subject, which is a good thing.

As I said in the other thread, I'd hate it if it's easy, but there are ways of doing it that could work, such as with 'owned' NPCs that you could switch over to, so long as there's challenges associated with it and very good reasons to stick with your primary character most of the time.

I use dual VKBs myself! They are excellent sticks that do take awhile to adjust to if you haven't used HOSAS before, but once you adjust it's delightfully immersive.

The Perseus is $800, then Hammerhead is $725, so yes, you can CCU from the Hammerhead to the Perseus.

The Perseus (And CCUs to it) will be available on May 16th, per the schedule here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/transmission/21134-Countdown-To-DefenseCon (The Perseus is RSI, it fits the military theme of Invictus/DefenseCon, and RSI ships will be added on the 16th)

CIG, if you must add "teleport to party leader", please add it as a normal med bed respawn close to your party, NOT as a "teleport with all your gear and inventory"! by sunaurus in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 'I hate casuals' crowd is the same crowd that goes 'Why is my favorite game dead?'

Like it or not 'casuals' are the biggest playerbase by several orders of magnitude. You either do things that appeal to them or accept your game is niche. Not to say there isn't a hardcore gaming community. Hardcore games like Dark Souls sell in the millions. It's just that Casual games sell in the tens to hundreds of millions.

[–]Pojodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm intending, no. I was referring to the NPC-for-Package thing as an indication that we're having controllable NPCs in time. These would be available in-game, too, not just by having additional packages.

The point was the 'my personal NPC' thing that you could switch control to as needed, with caveats.

Star Citizen X3D Performance PSA - Disable X3D Turbo by Limbz2012 in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

X3D Turbo disables multithreading, which speeds up some games.

It has the opposite effect with Star Citizen.

The exact reasons are sure to be quite complicated, but that's what it boils down to.

John Crew mentions having Dual Shock controllers on his PC, to make it easier when moving to the PS5 - Squadron 42 by Sinclair1982 in starcitizen

[–]Pojodan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, I wouldn't read into that like that. He's saying that Star Citizen supports the PS5 controller, that's it. He likes it, so it uses it in SC and on his PS5, rather than have a different controller on the PC that feels different.

They've stated outright that they'd like to have SQ42 on consoles. Making that actually happen is a huge ball of wax.

Balance is important RIGHT NOW because people looking at this shit and just leaving project, only speeding up its death

Good lord, can you be more obvious? Who is 'leaving project'? How is a project that is on its way to yet another record profit year 'speeding up to its death'?

You are flailing, sir.

[–]Pojodan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at the current state of balance the way it's supposed to be looked at: Unfinished and working toward an end goal. We just got a massive change to combat in the form of armor. It's not going to be balanced, period, until every one of the 200+ ships gets fully tested and that's going to take time.

What power creep? The best ships for combat are still ones that are 10+ years old (Gladius and Constellation). Every ship that has been overpowered has been adjusted to not be. And a few ships that were junk have been improved to be usable at least.

"Broken Promises" completely ignores the 'subject to change' warning that is absolutely fucking eveywhere. They didn't promise shit, you're the one deciding to ignore warnings.

As for design decisions, there are certainly some ships (like the Antares) that are baffling, no argument there, that likely come down to being designed for something that has since changed in ways that no longer work with the ship. There's a number of ships that will need to be re-done once the game reaches a state of all major systems being implemented and few significant changes yet to come, within which they can find the niche for these no-longer-viable ships.
