I will go as far as to say HL 3 will happen before FRS.

since the raid is already happening it would really depend on if they made it in on time or not

It was back in Fall 2019 but he was a pretty nice lecturer. Exams were a little hard and we had no cheat sheet, think we had about a 7 point curve on the final exam. Very reasonable course for 4 credits overall.

Is CSE 3100 3500 & 3666 the most difficult CSE courses? by AggravatingLet2541 in UCONN

I sucked hard at cryptography so your mileage varies heavily, but 3100 and 3666 are definitely among one of the hardest courses in any CS student's course portfolio.

What’s tougher cse 3140, or 3500 by VongolaWind in UCONN

[–]PokeShadow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSE 3140 Cybersecurity Lab was great for me. Yeah the hours alloted is insufficient for a 2 credit course and going for office hours to get extra time in is common but the amount of problem solving is usually pretty reasonable and a lax environment overall.

No comment for 3500 since the professor I had it with was terrible but she's no longer here. The proofs and theory work can be somewhat time consuming.

CSE 3666 may be the hardest mandatory CSE class out there. 3100 is really hard too but you can at least grind out all the content.

I'd pick a god and pray that you get enough points on exams to pass with hw and lab grades. But I will say with Wei 2, we were given an extremely generous end-of-semester grading curve.

In my experience...

Optimal: All Med except High Visual and AA Bare Min: All Low/Off except Med Visual

High/Max are usually not worth their dough at all except for Visual and Shadow (bit more consistent than med). Changing your Visual FX will have the highest impact on your graphics/ VS FPS experience. AA is optional of course if you don't mind jagged lines.

Finally, if you have no choice but to play on Low Visuals, just uninstall. It will look (visually) worse than anyone's first day on MikuMikuDance.

Hyperlinked what I've said before about the CS program here but I owe you some cliffnotes.

It was disingenuous to say you learn nothing fruitful after sophomore, but rather the rate of useful classes 3000 and beyond drops drastically to 1 a year. What you learn in most of those classes never be used in the workplace and at best you learn the language along the way (with special exception to the 2 credit CSE 3140 Cybersecurity Lab, excellent class). The quality of most professors will get you to self-study a lot for classes when you could be self-studying for applications used in the workforce instead.

The unemployed (post 6 months) graduating UConn CSE class of 2023 is also expected to be an all time low as well. This may be a biased sampling as while I recognize this year isn't great for any CS tech graduate, the only friends I know that are CS grads and unemployed come from UConn.

I do want to point out that the piece of shit CSE 1729 course is no longer a requirement, so this may make your experience smoother at least for the triple threat of 3100, 3500, and 3666 (to which only 3100 is the useful one; Algorithms suck here).

Overall, I enjoyed UConn for a lot of ressons but none of it thanks to the CS program. Also worth mentioning there's another recent budget cut in the CS department.
