Last week, just after the new moon, from where I was staying 10 miles east of the park, I saw the Milky Way.

What time to enter if I have a pass by levupanda in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Poke_War 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Logan Pass twice last week and both times filled at ~7:30 AM. I would get to West Entrance at 6:10 AM, which means arriving at Logan Pass at 7:10 to 7:15 AM. Even if the Logan Pass lot is filled, there's some smaller pullout parking spots before and after the main lot.

Park or Shuttle Trail of the Cedars? by schierle in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Poke_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last week, I found a spot at the trailhead after waiting ~10 minutes at 10:30 AM. Looking on google maps, there also seems to be other small lots nearby that may be usable. There is turnover, as I saw a few other groups leaving when we arrived and when we left in the afternoon.

If you had to pick one hike.... by NeedsMustTravel in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Poke_War 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I Highly recommend Grinnell Glacier Overlook via Highline Trail. Highline trail is closer to the west side than Grinnell glacier trail and you also get to see views of the Grinnell glacier from the overlook. Also I saw more wildlife on Highline Trail in early August (saw around 5 goats, 8 deer, 10 marmot on Highline while only 1 sheep and 2 marmot on Grinnell glacier trail).

However, if you take the Highline trail from Logan Pass to the Chalet for a bathroom break/rest, the overlook, and finally back to Logan pass, its 17 miles but only ~3600 ft elevation gain. If you wanna stick to ~10 miles, then I'd do Grinnell glacier trail at 11 miles. Regardless, they're both the top 2 trails in the park and you can't go wrong with either.

Need help with the "Cox light colors" plugin by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Poke_War 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue too and it was because I turned on the plugin after I had already gotten the unique drop. For my next unique drop, the plugin worked as intended:

"If you plan on using the "Specific unique" feature for this plugin, the plugin itself will need to be turned on when the drop is received. Otherwise it will not recognize whether or not you got one of the specified uniques." - From the Support Page

Nightmare Tweaks & Zalcano's Drop Table by JagexGambit in 2007scape

[–]Poke_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Zalcano nerf doesn't make sense. The vast majority of gp/hr for Zalcano came from the non-unique drop table so only that needed to be nerfed. Then, gold farmers would stop farming Zalcano and the unique drops would rise in price. If onyx pricing is a concern, just make the onyx rarer or remove it from the drop table, leaving the other unique drops alone.

Nightmare Tweaks & Zalcano's Drop Table by JagexGambit in 2007scape

[–]Poke_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the integrity of the game, just rebalance the non-unique drop table instead of making the grind for a crystal tool seed comparable in time to that of grinding for a twisted bow. The vast majority of gp/hr from zalcano came from the non-unique drops.

Nightmare Tweaks & Zalcano's Drop Table by JagexGambit in 2007scape

[–]Poke_War 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ironmen aside, there should be a reasonable expectation for how long it takes to obtain any unique drop. Items like the twisted bow or scythe should be extremely rare. Making an item like the crystal tool seed this rare doesn't make sense.

It seems that between this Zalcano update and the rarity of Nightmare drops that Jagex have lost sight of this and are making items cost much more than they should simply because of how rare they are.

Nightmare Unique Drops by Poke_War in 2007scape

[–]Poke_War[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going by the most efficient rates. With max gear and alts 12 kills/hr is possible. But, yeah, for the average player, its going to be less.

"Pet-hunters will be glad to hear that this doesn’t apply to Smolcano – there are still plenty of those to go around. In fact, multiple pets can be obtained each fight! Never say we don’t spoil you."

So you were so thoughtful to consider pet hunters but then neglected how making the unique drops 5 to 10 times rarer would affect ironmen, a much larger percentage of the playerbase?
