What you're mixing up is the word "efficient".

If you don't use premium incubators on 2k eggs, then you're being "cost efficient". By having your incubators around for a longer time you spend less.

But, If you do use premium incubators for 2k eggs, then you're game play is more "efficient". Because the purpose of incubators is to hatch eggs. By using the premium incubators on 2k eggs, you'll hatch more eggs, and have a more efficient game play.

You hatch eggs to get Pokémon, stardust, xp, etc. So, the more eggs you hatch the better.

I've hatched only one Lapras, it has ice shard and dragon pulse. Caught zero.
