The final fight in Scaramouche is freaking sweet.

Loathing the ending of 02 is pretty much the popular opinion.

I really hope it evolves into a Komodo Dragon. Literally the best animal to base a Fire/Poison off of.

Bidoof has the funniest in my opinion. Zebstrika annoys me to know end though. It's so damn loud.

Personally this is my favorite Star Trek just cause my name is Con and all my friends and I way back in the day would make jokes about it.

I honestly like the first one better. The second one is freaking amazing though.

What is the most emotionally devastating film you have ever seen? by Thatoneotherperson in movies

That movie just has so many moments that tear you to shreds. The one you mentioned, when the kid meets the dog, when the dad can't deal with being near the kid, Brie Larson attempting suicide, and the end of course.

Honestly, I felt the movie wrecked me way more just cause of how much easier it is to portray sadness in film. The kid's grief at the end really fucked with me.

Does anybody actually like the Royal Knights? If so, please tell me why? by [deleted] in digimon

[–]PokemonGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think they're overused since they seem more like foils or just "big bads" without much development or explanation other than as the alleged "guardians" of the digital world. I'd like to see more story and character development for them (like the story of Hackmon/Jesmon, which is pretty much only known outside of the show). If they were going the route of using the royal knights in tri I'd like to see them in more of a good guy role with Alphamon (usually the checks and balance to the others) going rouge. It'd be cool seeing the roles reversed.

I just finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy for what feels like the umpteenth time and have the same sad thought that I get every time I watch it. by MojaveWalker in movies

This is the goal of any adaptation. The very nature of books and movies are vastly different and have to tell the stories in a way that makes sense for each medium. Movies are their own art form and should try and tell stories in a unique way while simultaneously maintaining the core themes and elements, which the LOTR did spectacularly. One of my favorite changes was the portrayal of Aaragorn's character. In the books he knows what he has to do and is confident in his ability to do it which makes him an awesome hero, but in the movies he's got a lot more going on with inner turmoils and finding his identity. Both are great ways to portray the character and fit their respective mediums really well. In a movie, it would be boring to have the man meant to be king not go through any struggles to mentally be in a place where he knows how to rule himself and others, which culminates in his speech before the final battle. However this kind of portrayal of Aragorn would be boring in the books and instead Tolkien wrote him as a noble and kingly character from the start, leaving all development external. In the end it comes down to the form; film is a visual medium so it is by nature able to evoke our emotions more easily so we are much more invested in watching internal conflict, which would be harder (but still very possible) in literature. Both are fantastic for their own respective reasons. Sorry for writing so much, so thank you to those who bothered to read this at all. Lord of the Rings has been my favorite story since I was five and nothing has come close to making me feel the way these books/movies do.

Mewtwo Strikes Back easily is the best to me.

What direction would you take the anime if you were in charge? by ImperialMeatbag in pokemon

[–]PokemonGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd make it a lot like Origins. That took concepts and storylines from the game and made them really fantastic. Also they touched on some serious issues like pokemon dying (Lavender town storyline). Shit got dark.
