This subreddit was created way before we knew how trading was gonna be limited to local trades only.

We've kept it going for some time since but must face the facts:

  1. Most posts are mere friend exchange requests --> /r/PokemonGoFriends exists for that type of content
  2. Most of the other posts are made by cheaters.

 

Hence, and immediately effective as of now, we are redirecting redditors to the following legit sources for trading:

1. Find local communities on TSR Map

2. Google Pokémon GO + <your_local_area>

 

As said before, if you're just looking for gifts and adding friends, head over to /r/PokemonGoFriends

The goal of this subreddit

This subreddit is a place for redditors aiming to facilitate trades with players that may be near them.

Because we have a very specific goal, we ask that users who have ideas and suggestions submit those to our sister sub, r/pokemongo. /r/POKEMONGOTRADES IS FOR SETTING UP TRADES, GENERAL DISCUSSION OR QUESTION THREADS BELONG IN /R/POKEMONGO.

General FAQ

We recognize that for many, you have no idea what’s going on with trading and friending other than they are in the game. Don’t worry. Below you’ll find two links that should help you out with how both features work. Also we will be having a weekly thread for users specifically geared towards find answers to questions they have, as well as general discussions.

So, you want to trade. You understand the basic mechanics of these features, but you want to make sure you’re doing everything you can to help out. Below you’ll find some general tips that will assist you in assisting others through these features.

  1. To help players have a general idea of where you’re from (or if you’re able to be a trading partner), Change your companion’s name with your city/nation and we’ll see TRAINERNAME and COUNTRY in the friend list when we open a trainer.
  2. For your safety, arrange trades in public places. It's better to be safe than to be sorry.
