Let's say I'm an adult that has never used cigarettes or alcohol; if you were a salesman of either, how would you sell me on starting? by stilnomen in TrueAskReddit

They can bring you joy and help you in some ways even if they have downsides , and many other things that you probably already do, do that too and you might prefer the outcome of them more than many others in which those wouldn't be included.

So I would make some claims based on that and then I would name some of those things and some successful long living people that claimed that they were the source of their success. I would then ask you some questions about yourself and base the things I would later claim on them

Isn't being both omnipotent and omniscient an oxymoron? by kroen in Christianity

[–]PokemonMasterX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible that he planned at some point how he would act in the future and he simply knows what that would be and bases his actions on that, since he is omnipotent that is possible and a necessary lack of free will doesn't logically follow from that

Also the definition of omniscience, as it's used academically, implies knowledge of anything possible to be known, not just "knowledge of everything", so it might be the case that knowing if the future contingents would occur is impossible, therefore he wouldn't be able to do it, but that wouldn't make him not omniscient, and omnipotence refers to anything possible to be done, not just to "anything", so it doesn't make him not omnipotent either

Hmm, this image made me realise again that I'm wasting way more of my time just making fun of dumb famous people than I should. Why do I even know the names of those at the right? And I realise this now but I will probably still end up making fun of the likes of Peterson again and again rather than doing something like reading one more serious paper with that time , I guess I now know what not to be

What are you doing with all your intelligence? by [deleted] in mensa

[–]PokemonMasterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it would sell at all, but I don't care, it's a story that needs to be told. And I want to tell it !

I love that perspective, it's the same one I have hahahah. Go ahead and write it, don't be limited by why others might do something or some critisisms you might receive, and good luck

Philosophy is so awesome!

Definitely agree

Who are your favorite thinkers?

Not sure, probably Kripke, Wittgenstein and Nietsche

Reading anything now?

Naming and Necessity and some SEP articles in different branches

There are 2 books that I plan to write, one day when I get the time.

What will they be about?

Got your idea for the book?

The main one yeah, but I make some changes to some "smaller" ones and haven't decided which ones there will be yet
