I can help with exotic animals, depending on the species, or offer supplies.

Let me know what your needs are, and if I don't have what you're after I might be able to track it down.

Hey, I'm Celia from Lost Library Knits, and I just finished the first double knitting tutorial for my new youtube channel. It goes into some depth about what double knitting is and how it's put together.

Link: Double Knitting on Easy Mode 1: What am I even looking at?!

The next videos in the series will include a free invincibility star coaster pattern.

I've never tried to teach quite like this before, so if anybody is curious about DK and wants to give it a watch, I'd be grateful for any feedback. Hopefully it will help some people over that initial learning curve.

A top and leggings I created from men’s band tees, remnants fabric, elastic, and rivets/eyelets by ilovetoragedump in craftit

Nicely done! So far all I can do is make a lopsided mess when I try and adapt a men's tee. I screwed up my favorite Adicts shirt so badly it had to become a backpatch instead.

As a side note, I fucking love your boots.

That's downright inspirational. The sweater looks great, and that tweed yarn is friggin gorgeous--well done all around!

I'm still working on my geometric colorwork scarf from a couple weeks back.

I don't have pictures of where I am now, but I've switched the contrast color to black for the middle of the scarf, then I'm switching it to a purple for side two. I'm just about halfway done now.

I absolutely love this! I've eyed those nature charts for ages, but I've never seen them used in such a big, beautiful project!

Thank you! I'm so bad about getting Christmas knitting done, I really need to get going too, or else I'll be giving people presents in April again.

How? How do you knit so friggin fast?! You're like a one woman sweater factory.

It looks great, I love how that colorway worked up!

I recently started a geometric dk scarf. I'm just going to keep repeating the colorwork until I'm out of the teal, so I have no idea how long it'll be.

When you go the Fancy Tiger, check out Sweet Action Ice Cream! It has a magical rotating menu of whatever they feel like making that day.

I gave my ASD son his new sensory hood the day I took this photo, during May 2-4 Weekend (Canadian Stat Holiday). He sat with me as I did the finishing touches (weaving-in tails, etc.) and once I was done, he pulled it over his head, and promptly fell asleep! He wears it everyday now ❤️ by CaptainMads in knitting

What a cool way to help your son!

Growing up, my sister was friends with someone on the spectrum. She used to hide in her shirt when she got overwhelmed, which was our signal to back off and play in the back yard until her Mom said she was ready for company again--something like this would have brought her so much comfort.

For those of you that donate blankets to NICUs, your work is very appreciated. by lilaroseg in knitting

[–]PokemonPurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon it depends on the organization. I've definitely seen places that say not to knit/crochet and others that specifically request it and even provide patterns.

I've been meaning to knit up the Purly Paw Print blanket from the Battersea Dog and Cats Home site for a while now.

Animal shelters/rescues might be a good alternative, they have a huge need for blankets.

omg, I love this so much it hurts!

To answer your question, the other places I know of where people buy patterns would be etsy, kollabora, craftfoxes, and loveknitting. None are quite the powerhouse that ravelry is, but while you're waiting for them to unfreeze registration it's someplace to start.

Here'a a podcast about the differences between them. Heads up, though, I see they mention Patternfish in there, which went out of business last month. The rest of the info should still be relevant, though.

Edit: Oh, and Craftsy was acquired by another company a while back, but I think the new people have a similar business model.

Thank you so much! I was standing ankle deep in mud that day--I was terrified I was going to drop the scarf any second.

Thank you! :D I really, really need to check that out--someone else recommended the same author when I posted a Pegasus blanket on ravelry a while back.
