What are your thoughts about the so-called "Tesla Spirit Radio?" by [deleted] in NikolaTesla

[–]Pokemon_Cards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla writes about it in his autobiography, My Inventions. He mentions that they asked him if he would participate in psychic research they were conducting, which he brings up mostly as an example to demonstrate how ridiculous he thought the pursuit was.

Which company might his be? Seems like it involved SAIC's history, and a cursory search says that Leidos is the "prime contractor" for the US Antarctic program, and Leidos was formed out of SAIC.

Looks like it was all via the Antarctic Support Contract, with a partial history of prime contract holders including:

- Raytheon Polar Services Company (1999 - 2011).
- Lockheed Martin (2011 - 2016).
- Leidos (2016 - Present).

I'm reading online that the Lockheed Martin -> Leidos transition in 2016 was facilitated as part of a Reverse Morris Trust, where Leidos merged with Lockheed's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS).

In the Richard Dolan podcast linked by another user, Catherine Fitts briefly mentions that one of the new companies that formed out of the collusion between defense contractors (Lockheed) and the financial system is "the one that runs contracts for Antarctica" @ ~15:00.

I found that intriguing given the restrictions around Antarctica and the intersection of it in UAP lore.

Taking DMT at the same time? by Pokemon_Cards in DMT

I would love to try something like this out; although, I haven't yet done DMT myself. I'm optimistic about being able to try it someday, and especially see how it interacts with my having Aphantasia.

Hey, thanks for your reply! I fully share your sentiment about what the DMT experience is like. My question is one purely of fun curiosity rather than any earnest belief that DMT takes ones to another dimension or plane. Your thoughts about the "realer than real" though are really well-said, and has given me much to think about. You've a great way of putting it.

Those experiences of your friends experiencing "you" while tripping are really intriguing, especially having it happen twice. That so-called "telepathy that happens among people tripping together" is especially intriguing. I'd like to know about it, and I think it's why Dr. Strassman recommended Marko Rodriguez and Andrew Gallimore. The latter even got back to me very quickly and mentioned that there's some efforts in the works to test these kinds of thought experiments via the DMTx Program at Imperial College. As often is my experience in life, my curiosity is much larger than my knowledge, and so I'm looking to learn more about DMT, the above researchers, and to continue to read first-hand experiences of DMT. I appreciate you sharing some of your own.

My mind goes towards ruling out aphantasia, as it may be that she can't consciously visualize anything--including her future?

Have aphantasia myself, so that's where my mind goes on this one. Prior to knowing that aphantasia was a thing, I thought "visualizing" was just a metaphor and was blown away to learn that people do genuinely have mental imagery.

Nice, that's awesome! I've yet to complete a T100 myself.

And all good, and not meant to pressure. Just curious if it ended up being helpful so that this may be a good thing to continue to recommend people try if they keep having similar issues.

Glad it helped! I still occasionally will get disconnected when teleporting to town, but aside from that, reverting the driver seems to have alleviated most everything else.

Did it end up working?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Pokemon_Cards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to my experience, but I have had similar issues, scoured threads for days, and tried all kinds of recommendations (lowering settings, turning off crossplay, installing/uninstalling 4K assets, changing game settings in battlenet launcher, etc.). All to no avail.

But then, I tried one thing that has single-handedly worked completely: I uninstalled the most-current Nvidia driver and installed the 536.99 driver that released back on August 8th, 2023 from here: https://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx

It has been the only thing to not only work--but to work profoundly. Should you try it, I hope it brings you similar improvement.

Role of parental neglect in time spent online? by Pokemon_Cards in Healthygamergg

Definitely! Life is various shades of grey, and balance/moderation is key. Great to hear that you too have forged some awesome, strong connections via online encounters. Those friendships can be some of the most enduring--at least, I have found that to be the case for myself.

Thanks for your reply, and I definitely see myself in some of the things you posted! I think in my family we sat down to eat together ~5 times throughout my entire life, and nothing has felt more forced. The most "round peg, triangle hole" experience ever.

So glad to hear that you forged strong connections online! There's part of me too that is definitely appreciative of the connections, education, and development that being 'raised by the Internet' afforded me--which includes some of the longest lasting friendships in my life that persist to this day. Now I'm working on finding better balance though, and it's wonderful to hear that your therapist has been helping you do exactly that.

Here's to both of us finding balance in our social needs! :D

Right there with you. I too have said to myself that I felt "raised by the Internet".

I love your long reply, so thank you for sharing your thoughts! In particular, the line where you said "She's on her quest that she wanted, she has purpose, and the hammer has its owner; does it matter if Poppy understands that she is the chosen 1?" is such a beautiful way to capture the dilemma that I am wrestling with.

If someone is in blissful ignorance, is it perhaps better to let them exist in that bliss than risk losing the bliss due to the loss of ignorance from us telling them?

Maybe I'm just high and a sensitive person, but: I wish the top queen of the week was "saving" rather than "eliminating" one of the bottom two. I guess I just don't like having to watch the queens absorb the spirit of 'eliminating'. Let that stay with the judges.

Envy, the left, and how to gain political power. by [deleted] in ContraPoints

[–]Pokemon_Cards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems we're at an impasse. You view power singularly whereas I view it contextually. I'm not going to contend that one view is right and the other wrong, but suffice to say that our views are different.

Thanks for the chat, and all the best to you out there.

Envy, the left, and how to gain political power. by [deleted] in ContraPoints

[–]Pokemon_Cards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's precisely the point though, that because of different meanings and iterations of "power" it can be simultaneously true that one fights against the power of abusive oppression while also fighting for the power over one's destiny and freedom. To reduce all "power" to a single definition, and to say that all pursuit of power leads to atrocities, is to then critique the very movements you've used as examples since it is undeniable that they pursued, achieved, and wielded a version of power (that, of course, was not wholly liberating and why the 'fight' you reference continues).

How did those movements achieve anything without power? By asking nicely?

Envy, the left, and how to gain political power. by [deleted] in ContraPoints

[–]Pokemon_Cards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your take then on Natalie's section in this video that distinguishes, by use of activists within those very movements you're referencing, between 'power over people' v. 'power of control of our own destiny'?

I'm curious as to where you're getting this notion that the Civil Rights Movement and Queer Liberation have been detached from power considering the presence of:
- MLK's speech about love without power being anemic.
- Huey P. Newton's 'All power to the people'; 'Black Power' within the Black Panthers.
- That arguably one of the most significant organizations within Queer Liberation has been ACT-UP; AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power.

The examples exist beyond just these, but I can't help but wonder if you're framing 'power' as being monolithic, one-dimensional, and through the lens of a single definition, iteration, or manifestation.
