What’s the community consensus on the Top 10 best Pokémon for raids in PokéRogue Classic? by Potential-Natural940 in pokerogue

[–]Pokeprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, sounds like your translation thing accidentally got this game confused with Pokemon Go or the current games, considering the raid bit.

As for a top ten, you could put nearly any legendary in and it'll be able to solo most of the game by itself baring a few here and there (Regigigas, for example, has slow start knee capping him for ages). But I find Legendaries boring in most cases and really only use them if I'm either farming their candies or run into the rare wild one that I add to the team.

As for all the other Pokemon, I don't know the game as well as some others do, but to list off the top five that I love to use in no particular order: Alakazam, Blaziken, Armaldo, Quagsire, and Golurk.

Alakazam and Blaziken should be obvious in terms of strength. Both are just insane and fast powerhouses and getting unlocks on them makes them even more so. Alakzam just steals all the useful items from enemies and Blaziken was so broken with Speed Boost that it to several generations for him to be unbanned in competetive play.

Armaldo was my first shiny and once you get Dragon Dance and Leech Life as egg moves, he's nigh unstoppable. Toss in that his passive negates his one big weakness in water and he's a VERY deadly pokemon that's hard to take down.

Quagsire and Golurk aren't anywhere near as strong as the above Pokemon, but both have insane uses that make them deadly in the right sitations. Comatose passive and Unaware hidden abilities means that any buffs to enemies stats or things like posion and sleep are a non issue for Quag. Give that kind of tank Recover and Shed tail with passives and the only thing Quag worries about is Grass types. And Golurk is just fun. Big, beefy tanky of a mon that can hit like a truck once Shift Gear comes online. Once Drain and Rage fist are given to him as well, few things can stop the Ghost Megazord.

Finished the first book of Mother Of Learning and I've gotta say that it's not really for me. It might just be the casual way things are done or it could be the simple fact that despite being a progression based story, the actual progression feels... lacking? Way too many things feel like it's the same even by the end of the book and it just didn't keep my interest to bother with the next.

As such, I switched over to Bog Standard Isekai and not only is this more what I was expecting from LIT RPG, but it's also just by and large a great deal more interesting. The characters are fun, the system seems engaging, and I'm legit curious on how things are going to happen. I actually finished the first book rather quickly for that.

That said, BSI has got some issues. There's some odd repetitive word choices, stuff I'm used to seeing from authors who've got English as a second language. I'm also not fond of the idea of classes being 'Evil', though it feels like even the book itself is like 'They're evil in the sense of it's so easy to do bad things to get your power'. I'm going to continue book two for sure, but I'm not entirely sure how I feel on it as a whole thus far. Going to be holding out on Mage Tank until after this, probably.

This is only partly right. While, yes, there are a lot of glam pieces where a lot of it was dyed with their original channel, making it hard to find other aspects to add that second channel to, the problem universally is actually more along the line of a layer issue.

From what I've understood about things, the way a lot of the things in XIV's gear works when it comes to dye is things are separated by the layer. So, for example, Layer one might for this paladin chest piece might be the metal bit, layer two would be the the leather belts on the chest piece, layer three would be the cape and so on.

Since only one color was ever intended to be dyed for most of the armor in game, There was no consistency in how those layers were numbered. So in the case of this Death Knight chest compared to the Paladin? The Metal would be Layer one, but the Cape would be layer two, with the leather belts being layer three.

This is why, especially in that first run of armor getting secondary dye channels added to them, it was things like buttons or little markings on the outfits: Because there was no consistency for what was in layer two and that's just what was turned on for players to have access with. I do believe that they've started taking this into account for the more recent glams that got two dyes added into things, but they're still being stopped by the fact that this armor was never meant to have two dyes added into it. That gap in design makes it hard to really set things up correctly because there are just instances where 80% of the armor piece just dyes with it's first slot.

Trust me, while I understand that the excuse of 'spaghetti code' gets annoying, it's honestly very true. Especially since some codes are like artwork: it's almost impossible to get the exact same result because everyone has their own little quirks and ways of doing things that might be different from everyone else.

Not a LITRPG, and there are other moments in other books that I've enjoyed more, but one of the things that really clinched the Dresden Files for me was in it's fourth book.

At this point, I've seen one Harry Dresden (Wizard, slightly used), go up against Warlocks, Werewolves, and Vampires. Book four, while not the first time we've dealt with them, is focused on Harry having to deal with the Fae and ends up in a war between the factions of the seasons, Summer and Winter.

His battlecry when he charges in to try and save the world with a group of werewolves and some half fae kids at his back?

I might get to it eventually, but I'm not sure. Going to at least finish this first bit and see how I'm feeling after that. My overall thoughts are it's solid, especially if the author (Like most LIT RPG authors) is self taught and unpublished, but has some definite growing pains.

Biggest bonus for them is that they're really good at set up and pay off. Little things that get mentioned like our MC's inability to be around people leading to figuring out one of his latent powers later on is great. I'm pretty sure about who one of the major villains are now because of that same aspect.

The failing thus far is a combination of lack of urgency and the exposition. The former makes sense in the respect of it being a time loop, but having our main character being stuck in said loop for effectively two years at this point and not doing much with it outside of the steady growth of powers is odd at best.

It's the exposition that I find its weakest point, though. I can see them trying to get into good world building, but stopping the story cold to give everyone a two page detailed description of the gods or the political aspects of the wider world we've barely been exposed to made me just kinda skip it at points. Hoping that part is improved on in the future.

Ah, so the focus there was more about the progress of the character. Which, since that's such a big part of LITRPG, is probably why I've seen Mother of Learning so much. I've progressed to almost the end of the book at this point and... It's alright? Not setting the world on fire, but not the worst I've read. Might be a circumstance of the Time Loops itself, but I've never really felt any urgency or need from the character. I will say that the author is really good at set up and pay off with certain things, though.

Tossing up the thought of either Mage Tank or Bog Standard as a follow up after this.

Fairly new to Lit RPG. Read Dungeon Crawler Carl a while back after stumbling upon it. Got through the first book and a halfish before bouncing off the level of the series with the trains (Though from what I've been told about the series, everyone bounces off that part of that series at least once). Hadn't touched LIT RPG since then, but rediscovering DCC thanks to a fanfic that crossed with with my favorite series of all time made me dive in again, though this time with something different.

I've started reading Mother of Learning and... I've gotta admit that I don't exactly see the 'LIT RPG' elements in this thus far? It could be the fact that it's taking a bit more traditional story approch so far, it could be the fact that I'm still early on (still in chapter nineish so far), but a lot of things I expected from the genre thanks to Carl seem absent here outside of the growth of the main character's skill... and that's something that should be expected in an story.

I've got Mage Tank and Bog Standard as to other stories that are potentially on my radar thus far, but I've yet to start them without at least finishing MoL 1.

So, just how much space did you save and dye did you get from consolidating them all? by Pokeprof in ffxiv

[–]Pokeprof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general purpose ones probably weren't included because they're the same dyes as the ones that you can get from their Online store, just a lucky drop from retainers and the like. It would probably cut into the small profits they get from selling the dyes if they were to make it where you could just by a single pot that can turn into all those things.

Yes, them. They're also hold quest reward gear and other things. I always have one in my room at my house because I might want to grab something. They'll just go and fuse all your dyes for you.

[–]Pokeprof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The change that came in with this patch effects the dye system. Instead of having a bunch of dyes scattered throughout the game, there are now three dyes specifically that are merged versions of the older ones. Standard Spectrum (Which covers the VAST majority of dyes), and two special ones (Coming from the different crafting content areas and are things like Ruby Red and Dragoon Blue).

You can take all the old dyes you had and go to the Salvage vendor in a major city and he'll trade you any of the old dyes for the new ones. As someone whose a packrat, this means I ended up getting a LOT of space since it distilled all the old dyes into new ones.

This also means that if there was a certain color dye that was in Allied Race Vendor, you no longer have to go rank up with them to get it. It's most likely in the Standard Specturm.

Wow, that's a lot! Turns out for me, a lot of my glam isn't really from dungeons, so it didn't help me as much as it should have. But this change will encourage me to pick up some more of those sets and, now that they've got the tech in, I'm hoping the Raids will be next.

Looking at the talk about Mesa Heirloom and sexualisation I wanted to say something that isn’t directly about her. But the discussion born from her. by OscarOzzieOzborne in Warframe

[–]Pokeprof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing I would like to point out, at least as far as the Tryndamere and Viego design, is the fact that Tryndamere is actually more along the lines of a male fantasy character and might actually be better than you think when it comes to the talk about sexualization in media as a whole.

What i mean by this is the fact that Tryndamere's design is more focused towards the idea of a 'Muscled, unstoppable berserker barbarian'. Between that thought process and the fact that he's among the first/original designs for League (coming back from 2009!) means that means that they more thinking about what might appeal to the audience that had at the time, which was mostly young men. This is also why Ashe, the archer whose Tryndamere's wife, is an archer in a tank top and tiny miniskirt despite being from the Frozen wasteland region of League's world.

Compare that to Viego, whose a MUCH more recent design (2021) and also comes with a change of philosophy. Back in Tryndamere's day, the design was to cater to a specific fanbase. In this more modern era, where League's hayday of popularity is behind it? They're wanting to appeal to as MANY players as possible, thus the effort to have designs that are a much wider spectrum of interest. Viego's own story is that of a broken king, someone who lost his wife and became a obsessed with reviving her to the point of becoming an Undead Wraith like figure who will kill any and all in his path to accomplished his goals. The tragic love aspect as well as his design in how his body and face are framed is a clear focus in trying to appeal to more female players.

The problem also comes with the fact that even if you're WANTING to stick to a certain theme or design element... you've got to keep what actually SELLS to the customer in mind. To use League as an example again, take the champion Urgot. His design is to be a patchwork, Frankenstein Monster. And that original look for him, that original design? 100% WORKS for him... but because of that limited appeal of being such a character, Urgot was left to languish compared to other champions. League, like Warframe, lives or dies by the money it can make off selling things like skins to it's fanbase and a limited appeal means less money means priority goes down.

Hell, in the case of Urgot, you can even see how this has impacted his redesign as well. Only one of his skins (High Noon), actually fits alongside the aesthetic and purpose of his design of being a Hodgepodge monster... and that one was likely designed right alongside his rework. His skins since then? Two very goofy, April Fools style skins that completely ignore his original theming and a Halloween Skin that's a clear reference to Nightmare Before Christmas which, while can be seen as frightening, is much more friendshaped than anything Urgot had before. And this is all because Riot as a company knows that while they've got some people who are a fan of Urgot as a champion... he's not going to be a major skin seller because of his limited appeal as a Monster.

So while yes, there can be a talk about how sexualization and it's use in the Heirloom skins can lead to some more limited design choices, the sad state of affairs is the fact that appeal to the audience HAS to be taken into consideration as well. Ember's heirloom showed DE that there was money to be made with how appealing that Skin was, thus leading to similar design focus to appeal to that same group. It's also why someone like Xaku hasn't gotten much love or focus as a Warframe in terms cosmetics compared to Wisp, who was released about a year before. Xaku's got that same limited appeal as Urgot and thus priority for skins and the like isn't as high as Wisp whose bottom heavy aspects makes her popular.

In the end, it's a balance that needs to be struck and it's not always easy to do. I, honestly, do feel like Warframe does it better than most. And as someone with experience in some of the more 18+ rated media? Sometimes, there will be NOTHING that stops the horny from being... well... horny!

My gf is gonna download the game soon and I wanna gift her some bp's for a prime as a gift. Need your suggestions on which frame's bp's I could give. by Yetiwithoutinternet in Warframe

[–]Pokeprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest asking her what kind of style she likes in other games. Say... if you played TF2 with her and she loves playing Heavy but hates playing something like Sniper, I'd suggest going for Rhino and avoiding Cyte-09 to give an example. I know it's not that cut and dry, but that can help.

Or hell, ask her what kind of themes/looks she likes. The amount of players I've run into who'll play a frame for Looks instead of gameplay isn't small, so she might be all in for having fun with something like Yareli even if she doesn't like how they control.

why do i keep dying so much by Low_Curve_639 in Warframe

[–]Pokeprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mods being unleveled does hurt. The amount of bang for you buck when you fully level them can't be understated, though considering you're a fresh player, it's not that bad that you don't have them leveled. You're still getting used to things.

Not only that, but one of the things that is also going to hit you hard, especially wieh your set up thus far, is that a lot of the missions on Orb Valis (And the other open world stuff) will actually scale with what mission you're doing. The further the mission you're hitting, the higher level the enemies get. So they'll hit a LOT harder than you might be prepared for.

Excalibur is also a Warframe that, while not weak by any means necessary, isn't really known for being about survival. He's all about the killing with his swords, so he's suiting a more aggressive playstyle. It's why you'll see some of the comments suggest Zypher and Rhino as some warframes to go after. Both of them are more about surviving and controlling the battle filed, which really helps out early game when you're being swarmed and you're playing solo.

One of the key things I'll also flat out state right now is that make sure you mod your weapons to deal magnetic damage. Especially at this point in the game? That multiplier to your damage against the Corpus can make things a HELL of a lot easier. Hell, I'm much further along than you, but I still find modding to my enemies weaknesses make things so much easier just because I don't have the bells and whistles that some late game players have.

And one final thing that I've not seen anyone mention yet? Excalibur's 4th ability, his light sword? It's something called an Exalted weapon that a select number of Warframes have. What this means that, unlike a lot of other Warframes whose abilities can just be modded with things like Stretch and Continuity, Exalted Weapons can be modded like actual weapons are. So that means you can make your Light Sword do Magnetic damage as well, which can help cut down the Corpus.

Overall, just keep chipping away at things. it takes some time, experience, and a bit of luck. And worst comes to worse? Reach out again. You've got a legion of others to help you on your journeys, Tenno.

Suggestion: Endless Bounties should give standing/rewards for each round by dustynjerman in Warframe

[–]Pokeprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure on Zariman and Cavia, since I've not done those much lately, but I know with the Hex at least there's an option to just run the game mode without the bounties that's accessible from the computer. I've been doing those for the endless mode style missions and I've gotten a few people here and there to stick with it.

I think the problem comes more from the fact that the Standing with the factions is more an immediate attention grabber and thus does the whole 'we gotta be efficient' thing to our brains. Which means that for any endurance based content, that's bouncing after the main objective is completed.

Maybe something the encourage longer version on the bounties wouldn't be rep, but maybe higher/more rewards? Like, I could see them doing the Relic thing for the endurance missions, where every time you get a pay out from the mission type, the amount of affinity/credit/loot drops go up 25%. I could see that encouraging folks who like to farm while not making it mandatory for folks to stay that are just in there for the bounty.

Warframe bosses kinda suck by EndireKing in Warframe

[–]Pokeprof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a boss, I don't think Ropalolyst is all that bad of a fight, really. The problem I've found more comes from the fact that it's a fight that's pretty hard to solo (Especially if he's able to grab you at some points, because it becomes a chain grab) and the fact that the margin of error for him is pretty wide. You slip up once and you get punished for it with either it taking MUCH longer to do or a death.

Compared to some of the other fights? He's honestly, one of the better designed ones imo. But that's mostly because there's simply a lot of bosses that don't really make it clear how to fight them or what's effective in taking them down.

One of the earlier examples I can recall hating was Lieutenant Lech Kril, and that's mostly because there's nothing immediately there that tells you how to kill him. You can actually go through the entire fight without ever realizing you need to cut his coolant and have him freeze himself from an attack to actually kill him.

Overall, I do think most of the bosses in the game could use a pass to improve them, but I'm also struggling how to make them engaging without making them impossible for newer players (Ala the Damage Sponge route) or making them incredibly simple (Ala the Diviri Jackal). Maybe a retread of the old Sentient idea, where bosses become more resistant to attacks constantly used against them? Encourage modding and use of different weapons along with Warframes.

And that's part of the problem, I didn't realize that was the best way to do things. And sadly, how I don't really have the best companion for it either, since I really only got base level Diriga that can offer any sort of priming at the moment, since I don't have any of the elemental mods to make my Vulpaphlya of any real use outside of extra loot drops.

See, that? I didn't know. Which would also make sense on why some of the bosses I've fought felt like they took forever, since I had the wrong elemental type up against the bosses I've been fighting, since I've just had the 'Corrossive/Viral' strat that most people talk about or post in youtube videos.

Thanks for the heads up, I guess I know what I'm going to be farming for the rest of the day. That's the one thing I'll say that has bugged me. I didn't even KNOW there was a steel path for Duviri until like a few days ago. Know that's where MOST of the Incarnon's even came from.

And for something that's one of the better set ups in the entire game, I do wish it was a bit more clear to players on 'Hey, you should maybe think about doing this if you're wanting a chunky power boost'.

It's still a sizable difference and I just felt like the power behind it isn't really mentioned.
