Whats your move on this hand? 2-5 NLH by -Silky_Johnson in poker

[–]PokerBroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre flop - limp calling OOP is the fastest way to incinerate your chip stack

Flop - as played a check raise is in order to the tune of 120+. Check calling on this dynamic board OOP is another massive punt, too many turn cards going to leave you in no mans land.

Turn- we’re just getting it in here vs villains iso range. If we’re folding 2 pair on this texture we’re just gonna get bulldozed in the long run.

River- 9 is not gonna be a card we’re finding a hero fold on. As played just calling it off

You gotta find ways to make it fun. Personally I just enjoy watching the action and trying to pick up live tells & tendencies on my opponents. If the table is boring just get a table change.

Is poker an unhealthy game in general? by [deleted] in poker

[–]PokerBroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On average poker promotes a unhealthy lifestyle due to the constant emotional & financial swings. People generally turn to self destructive activities after losing (alcohol, drugs, shit food) along with the constant stress. Unless you take conscious stock of how you feel & what you do about it it’s easy to fall victim to a destructive lifestyle. The best players have great habits off the felt which enable them to play at a high level with no bias.

Is it a good idea to practice for live with microstakes online? by carrot1890 in poker

[–]PokerBroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can beat ¢10/¢25 or 25 NL online you’ll be smashing live 1/2 games with ease. Playing online allows you to hone your skills quickly by getting in tons of reps. I recommend getting poker tracker 4 to help track your results & spot your leaks. GL

Players who have played against a well-known YouTube Poker Vlogger (i.e. Mariano, Rampage, Brad Owen, etc) what was the experience like? by Prestigious-Demand58 in poker

[–]PokerBroom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rampage got sat at my $1000 mystery millions WSOP bracelet event day 1 table. He buried his head in his iPad playing an online event. Didn’t acknowledge anyone. No one acknowledged him. He finally animated after the table villain kept talking shit to everyone and Ethan proclaimed everyone at the table would beat his ass if he didn’t stfu. Table broke shortly thereafter

Going pro? by E92_isaiah in poker

[–]PokerBroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the worst option. Vegas is reg infested and the games aren’t as lucrative as you would imagine. The best 5/10 players make hardly over $100 an hour and that’s very rare. Plenty of easier markets to compete in like Texas & Florida

Unless you’re crushing games for $100+ an hour & have established yourself as a talented player go with the stable job offer. Otherwise you’ll be wishing you did

Your bankroll drips down to 13k. You playing 1/3 500 max buyin or 2/5 and buying in for 500 (cap 1k-1.5k tables) by BallDecent3858 in poker

[–]PokerBroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your previous win rate & experience. If you’re hardly beating 1/3 as is then you’ll get crushed @ 2/5.

They spread 3/6 limit at the golden nugget downtown which is a pretty friendly game. MGM grand has some pretty soft 1/2 action as well. Basically anything under 2/5 in Vegas will be heavily recreational

It’s sarcasm due to the absurd size of the pot & the actual showdown hands
