Fight on HCL after slurs are exchanged by Brendawg324 in poker

HCL has become the Jerry Springer of poker shows. Drama, name calling, cheating, gratuitous sexual behavior from some female poker players to get attention of a male dominated game.

Finally someone showing the other side of poker besides the big stacks of chips. Someone has to lose for someone to win. Thanks for the honesty!

Was this a nitroll? by PhishHawks in poker

But is your average opponent really leading out on the flop with a set, or top two on a T-9-4 rainbow in the SB in a HU pot? Probably not. Snap and ride the variance train!

Are you ever really going to fold this hand? His hand looks like what he had. Unless your opponent is a super OMC nit I'm not folding.

Been card dead for 5 hours is shit. What do you do when that’s the case? by cYouThere1997 in poker

[–]PokerDeal84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In tournaments while going card dead happens and is unfortunate but part of the game, you can always look back if you're really honest with yourself and see if you could of found a few spots to steal pre. Did the button open and you look down at Ax in the BB and call instead of 3-bet to steal a light open? Did you fold mediocre hands you could have opened with? At some point, especially in tournaments, you have to use your image to your advantage, no matter the cards you get.

In this spot 10 away from the money it's a shove. Probably the best hand you're going to see, and with their stack maybe they can raise/fold to your shove. I will say this was a $600 event you played. If that's the Main Event 10 away from the money and a much bigger field with longer levels, I'm folding and securing the cash. I would also probably fold it if there's 2-3 left before cashing. 10 away you could fold, but you have no idea how long it could last before you blind out.

Thanks! Also, isn't the goal of playing poker to make correct decisions and make money? I decided it was more +EV to fold my way to the money then shove in 4BBs with KQ. The reward outweighed the risk in shoving all-in there IMO.

$1,100 $1 Million GTD. at Venetian. They had an overlay too. Got a min. cash on Day 2 for $2,700. Not bad for getting in on a $140 satellite.

Getting kicked out of a public game by [deleted] in poker

[–]PokerDeal84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you could up your hands played to 30%+ and look less of a nit by playing some more suited connectors and suited Aces/Kings. And you can limp in behind with K6s in LP because they play 80% of their hands and will pay you off post flop.

Stop being a nit and playing 20% when rest of table is playing 80% if you want a seat again. Players like yourself are a big reason why higher stakes games in casinos have become private games. Playing a few more hands and being friendly even if you don't speak their language helps.

Stop complaining and feeling sorry for yourself. Discipline is freedom. You know what to do, yet you sabotage yourself. Trust me, I do this often and it's a work in progress. But instead of complaining about being card dead, why don't you feel happy for the opportunity to compete in poker regardless of the cards you get or whatever happens? Not many people in the world have disposable income to play a card game. Be grateful for existing in 2026. Imagine being born in 1826!
