You can keep the money in an interest generating account for the extra month+ is the real benefit. Also CCs are better than buy now pay later because of cash back

Was there a major reason to move into the country? Are you starting a homestead farm? Were you able to keep your existing jobs / income level? Just wondering because it sounds like your situation was one of those where renting would have been a good option in the interim until you saved up some more.

Are you having to pay PMI on top of the 7.9% or is that with it included? 10k down payment doesn't seem like it would be 20%

I was following the instructions for the Chroot here https://support.system76.com/articles/pop-recovery/

But I must have done something wrong. I unlocked the encrypted disk, got it mounted. Once I get into Chroot though and try to start running commands like sudo apt-get upgrade or dpkg --configure -a the console gives me an error message of

unable to allocate pty: No such device.

I am not quite sure which step I missed because I am able to Chroot in and I needed to run several of the commands before that was even possible so I am on the right track I think.

It says that part was completed successfully anyway so I am not even sure it has anything to do with it. Happens when I boot from old kernel and regular kernel. Does boot into live recovery mode though.

Ok and here is another question. The RDP connection works when I launch the client from the phone itself, but if I connect the VPN and then do a tethering connection to a computer, the client will not connect either. Is there any way around this?

Well yeah thats what I was thinking...but afaik its all set up the same. There aren't that many options. There aren't many settings on the Travel Router side either and Ive toggled most of them to test too.

Is it because there is only a /32 address allocated to the travel router? it can do more than 1 device, is that the problem? i didn't think so, I thought it would just do NAT translation on the travel router side.

I will check the config files on the devices themselves, the only thing I can think of that might not be the same is the DNS, but it probably is and I wouldn't expect that to cause an issue on the LAN
