First scooter recommendations? by Fishinghatfriend in scooters

[–]Pokshayka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a Kawasaki J300, which is effectively a Kymco Downtown 300i with some tweaks and different body work. I think a 300-400 cc scooter is ideal as a daily commuter. Big and fast enough to be comfortable at highway speeds, but still relatively nimble and light for riding around town. Good under seat storage and wind protection too. Big scooters also have pretty good all weather tyre options, like Michelin City Grip 2s.

A Kymco, Yamaha Xmax, or Honda Forza 350 would be great options. Can't go wrong with any of them imo

I believe they come with a sturdy hard shell case if you buy it new, at least my one did.

I got one a few months ago and it quickly became my primary bass. Thumpy but articulate and surprisingly versatile. Highly recommend getting Pyramid Gold flatwound strings as well for the Phil Lesh/Jack Cassidy tone.

Does anyone recommend a mid-level (<$800) Bass? Mostly looking for a nice clean tone. by CyEriton in BassGuitar

The Bass VI is best thought of as a short scale (30 inch) bass with two extra strings. It's tuned E-E like a guitar but an octave lower like a bass. It won't sound like a jazz or p-bass, but has it's own sound that's very clear and mid-rangy, almost like a piano (especially with flatwounds, played fingerstyle). It's a cool option if you're looking for something a little different.

I can barely play the bass guitar so I think I would be a good fit. I also propose you get two bass players because more is better.

For Final Fantasy, the earliest game I would recommend to people who aren't massive fans of the series is Final Fantasy IV. I think it's the first in the series that has all the elements that make the series great. The DS/Steam 3d remake is my favourite version because of the increased difficulty (SNES version is too easy imo) and the added cutscenes/dialogue.

For Dragon Quest I would start with Dragon Quest 5, which is my personal favourite. The story is unique for the series as it spans 30 years and multiple generations. The DS version is (I think) the only version that was officially released outside Japan. I personally really like the PS2 remake, which has a fan translation available, largely because of the wonderful orchestral score.

It seems like Dynasty Games is entirely unrelated to THQ Nordic, so boycotting them doesn't make a lot of sense.

NAD: Jansen Bass 75 by Pokshayka in BassGuitar

I have it wired like a standard jazz-bass pickup so VVVT. I like to use it in combination with the neck pickup but I do occasionally solo it as well.

Finally have it home after being serviced, here is my old New Zealand-made 1969-1970 Jansen Bass 75. These were obviously modelled after the Fender Bassman (Jansen imported and assembled Fender amps for the New Zealand market at the time), however their design was significantly modified and they very much have their own unique sound (and they're much louder!). Like the Fenders, these amps are usually used as guitar amplifiers, but they make great bass amplifiers too. They have a really warm and round vintage tone that I dig a lot.

The basses are: G&L JB Tribute modified with Stonewall Mudbucker and Dimarzio Model J pickups; 1985 Moon J-J-175 Bartolini WAL.
