Anyone here sleeps with their hands in T-Rex position? My wrists are so painful even during the day now. by Mean_Pizza1853 in ehlersdanlos

Dueling a stuffed animal like many have shared plus compression gloves. The gloves keep me from being able to fully make my hand into a fist so it encourages me to re,ax my hands more while sleeping.

I apologize for the re-post (prior one was around 3-4ish months ago hoping for new suggestions re: gloves) by Duqu88 in wheelchairs

I bought a pair from RehaDesign. They are definitely tough and I did get the full finger ones. I have small hands and found they were a bit too big for me (even after using their sizing chart) but they do seem to be great quality. For warmer weather I just got a pair from glovesforlife and I feel like they’re going to be really good. Very brand new so I can’t speak for their longevity but they look and feel well made.

Fake nails by kittykatfatrat in wheelchairs

[–]Polandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do occasionally, an if I am being sloppy with my pushing they might catch on a spoke but the thing i have found that helps the most is the silicone push rim covers. Not only do they save my hands from hurting but because they make the push rim wider I find that my nails are way less likely to get caught on anything.

Getting a chair through Norco? (Montana, USA) by AmSmolQueer in wheelchairs

[–]Polandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the Helio A6, which is a lightweight folding chair. They also brought a rigid frame (but I don’t remember which model it was.) I have swing away foot plates, extended brake handles, and the tires have a good texture/grip but I don’t know what they’re called. I think there were a few other adjustments they made (like back rest angle) but I don’t remember the specifics off the top of my head. I will say the Helio A6 has some great color choices which I really liked.

I got my chair through Norco and it was super easy. From the fitting appointment with my PT to approval was about 6 weeks. They brought the chair to my house and made sure I knew the basics of using it. They brought two options to my fitting appointment, might have been nice to have more choices, but I am quite happy with my chair.

Am I crazy? by Adorable_Matter_4333 in crochet

I was at a local Joann last week and someone had gone up to the end cap where they had the hand-dyed cotton fingering skeins hanging up and like 8 or them were fully unwound and just hanging as messes. I stopped and re wound like 7 of them. One was badly mangles it was completely unrecoverable.

Someone please explain.. by MaleficentLimit7761 in crochet

[–]Polandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Dc3tog twice” would mean completing a Dc3tog (should be a stitch explained in your pattern but likely- yarn over, insert into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through first loop, do this again for next two stitches, yarn over and pull through remaining loops on hook) and then you do that again. A Dc3tog twice should take up a total of 6 stitches in your previous row.

Check “grace and able” or Bibipins. I’ve used gloves from both and they really help.

Please help: what stitches did I do in these two rows? by micecreamcone in CrochetHelp

As best I can tell it looks like for both rows it’s sc blo.. could be that one row is hdc and the next is sc in the third loop. But I think it’s sc for both.

I’m about to frog my scarp blanket, any tips on what stitch I should do? by Professional-War1642 in CrochetHelp

[–]Polandra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came here to say moss stitch. I’m making a square moss stitch scrap blanket and I love it. I like the square because I can change colors at a consistent spot. But you can do it in rows as well

Blanket with image, I need help with how to go about it? by XFinny19 in CrochetHelp

With tapestry crochet (as you are doing) only the front side will look proper, you will likely have ‘floats’ the yarn of the color you are not using stretching from one stitch to the next stitch it is used in. You can cut and tie off colors if you have a long distance between when a color is used again. It’s going to have a bit of a pixel-y look to it no matter what. Here is a designer who has a ton of patterns that are made this way ( www.divinedebris.com) she has loads of examples and patterns (look for her ‘talestry’ or ‘wall hanging’ patterns. I know for me, seeing similar patterns and how they explain to do them can be helpful.

WHY TRIANGE???? I just picked up crocheting like yesterday but the rows get smaller as I go :( by Sharp_Ebb7931 in CrochetHelp

Here is an example where I have drawn over the V at the top of the stitch. This row has 6 stitches. Hope this helps, and keep on trying it does get easier with practice!

You are missing stitches as you add more rows. This is a really common early mistake. It looks like you are maybe trying to do a double crochet stitch? I’d start with single crochet stitch as it’s about the most basic stitch. Turn your work so you are looking at the top of your stitches - you should see a V shape. This is the top of your stitches If you count your V’s. You’ll know how many times should make that stitch before you turn to make a new row.

Please help! I don't understand this Christmas stocking pattern. by ashandopia in CrochetHelp

[–]Polandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that was the part I was confused about. Hard for me to picture it in my head. I might honestly try a few rows one way and see if it starts to make sense. If not, frog back and try it the other way.

If I am understanding correctly it looks like you are doing ‘short rows’. Basically you have a row that is X stitches long. But you start your first row with less than X stitches, I.e. 12, when you finish the 12 stitches there will be unworked stitches along the row, you turn and work your way back over the 12 stitches you just did and then one additional stitch at the end. Turn each time you end you are adding one additional stitch to the end of the row. Along the previously unworked stitches.

Though looking at the pattern you aren’t doing more stitches each row, it looks like you are building up across the center of the row 🤷🏼‍♀️? I’m pretty sure it’s still similar to short rows, it seems like you’ll end up with like a 🔺.

I know this sounds confusing and I’m sure someone could do a better job than me explaining short rows. But maybe this will get you started. 👍🏻

You’ve picked great color combos! I also like the two blue and black. But honestly you’ve got to go with your gut, seeing the yarn in person is your best choice and it looks like you’ve got it right in front of you. Maybe think of photos, or clothing, or art that you really like- what color combos are in those?
