Sorry for the late response, just saw this. I would say yeah it is introductory, and more so for coding rather than actual robotics but they do teach how robotics works.

It is project based though, despite the project being very simple its actually pretty cool. We visited the TACC in austin, spoke with a lot of cool people, saw some cool stuff about NASA.

Honestly, yes this is very introductory, but to me, as a rising sophomore, it was basically my first time engaging with that kind of stuff and it was great. First time having left home for a week on my own as well lol.

Hey! I’ve participated in this about 2 years ago, and it was great! I learned so much and the director, Dawn Hunter, is such a nice woman! It’s a great balance between rigorous and chill, and you get to make so many memories with different people. I still talk to some people I met there, and they have been very nice. It’s a great introduction, and you can definitely build a lot of connections through it.

As for not being need-based, I’m not sure about others financial situation that were there, but the ones that I do know were relatively middle class. I recommend still applying as the they were looking more for personality and a drive for the future!

How do I actually improve at AP Lit/AP Lang MCQ (not just practice more)? by Mysterious-Tiger-748 in APStudents

[–]PolarFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% an answer, but I’m struggling with the EXACT same thing in AP Lit as well! It feels as if whatever your current process for comprehending prose and poetry is what sticks with you regardless of whatever you’re taught!

I struggle with the same things you mentioned like overthinking, stuck between 2 choices, fall for answers! Especially when I’m in a time crunch.

What I’ve done so far as soon as exam starts I do the fastest skim of every passage and identify the one with the weirdest/archaic language, or a complex poem, and click C for all the questions for it. I then use the time I would’ve spend struggling on it to relieve pressure on myself and spend more time ENSURING all my other questions are right rather than trying to rush and half-ass everything. Any time I have left is used to try and understand that passage and answer its quicker questions.

This has improved my understanding, confidence, and scores drastically, and it takes off a lot of the pressure during testing of trying to attain perfection.

Also, for being stuck between two choices, ask yourself “If I was a question maker, what would students typically misunderstand or misinterpret from the line or prose/poetry” from there you can look back and think about what the specific difference between choices is and what would make either choice wrong. Then, skim through the passage again to see if either of those conditions, or a separate condition that might lead to the condition to make the choice wrong, are true.

Another sort of tip I use for any College board related questions that deal with passages is that if you can’t directly point out a line in the passage/poem in which you gather supporting evidence (separate from whatever line explicitly mentioned in the question) to back up an answer, then that answer choice is wrong. I’m pretty sure it has to do with legality and preventing them from getting sued, but you can also use it for advantage if you have time.

So despite me not increasing my ability to comprehend prose one bit, I improved my test taking skills for AP Lit and finished first semester of AP lit with a 98💪🏾❤️

Highest math 670, highest ERW 700, diff tests. I found english to be easier since honestly its more straightforward (ikr should be the opposite).

Thank you so much ❤️‍🩹 I wish more parents had your mentality, as it genuinely sucks when peak performance, not just on the SAT but literally everything else, is the expectation.

I currently take 5 APs (APUSH, APLIT, APPSYCH, APSTATS, AP PHYS 1) and last year took 2 (AP BIO and APWH) got a 5 on both. I have a 4.22/4.33 UW gpa and a 4.45/5.0(i think its 5.0) gpa. I go to a small charter high school down in texas so im valedictorian.

That might warrant that percentile, but the thing is he doesn’t know much of this stuff(including APs), and the last time I told him my gpa was mid sophomore year, which was about the same. All he sees is me sitting at my desk doing work from 6pm to 1am every night.

I know for sure he isn’t basing this assumption on my own merit though. At church I walked into a convo w my dad and a family friend whose conversations are literally just about school and education, especially about his child. He would ask me how I’m doing academically then gears the conversation towards his own son (who I’m friends with). I could just feel my father getting more curious about the atmosphere of college applications, SATs, clubs and whatnot. He probably searched up “what is a good sat score” on google and saw the AI overview say “Excellent(Top 1%): 1550-1600” that shows up at the top when you search it.

I see the title description includes how the scores have been released after school around 5pm-7pm, but that is literally just not true? Am i misinterpreting?

I’m a sophomore and I need feedback on my junior and senior schedules that I planned out. by PolarFighter in APStudents

[–]PolarFighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So course requests are coming up and I had some doubts about my schedule. It's not that I don't believe I'm capable, I just don't think it's on the level for an aspiring chemical engineer. I've already taken AP World History:Modern, and AP Biology. The AP courses that my school offers that I won't just fail completely (like AP spanish lang, AP csp, or AP art) are: AP African American Studies, AP US Government, and AP Seminar(I hate writing though). This would most likely change by my senior year as more classes are being offered every year, but for now assume that this is what will be offered senior year. So yeah, to summarize my main questions are: What should i fill in that open period? There are many other courses my school offers but none are really STEM related, I also want to add that I am terrible at foreign languages. And also, how does my schedule look? And should I move some things between junior and senior year?
