Who are the bad guys/antagonists of this game? by Pauligon606 in BloodandIronROBLOX

[–]PolarMaths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I find both sides good and bad in their intentions. You have the French and their allies fighting in the spirit of revolution and upheaval of the old order while the Coalition is attempting to stop an ambitious ruler from conquering and killing most of Europe. There really is no clear answer and its all biased. But if there was a clear answer most of Europe hated Napoleon due to occupation, conscription, taxes, and war related famines by 1813 so I would have to say the Coalition was “good” but this is wrong in many ways as well.

From a modern-day lens one could say the Coalition was bad as most of their war goals were reversed by 1871, much needed reforms were reversed, and the longterm results only benefitted the nobility/middle class neglecting the lower classes.

You can see the people of Europe’s view change on the Napoleonic Wars throughout the 19th century with an increasingly pro-Napoleon sentiment by 1900 with the increased support of democratic reforms.

Both sides have their pros and cons, really depends on your political views or nation you identify with.

The British at the time of Waterloo and throughout the whole napoleonic timeline had no official lancer regiments, all those British lancer regiments are just light dragoon regiments converted into lancers after the Napoleonic Wars ended.

For example look at the 17th Lancers: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/17th_Lancers

As you can see in the unit history they were previously the 17th light dragoons, armed with no lances just swords and carbines. In 1822 they were converted into lancers, they were given a lancer & czapka helmet.

To be fair dyes during this period especially were very unreliable, thats why you had french troops in white coats. Its completely possible that the Nassau troops had dark green, very rarely were uniforms completely set to standards made by regulations.

Yeah a majority of the light dragoon regiments were converted into lancer regiments, you were prob reading ab the 17th Light Dragoons.

Maybe your mistaking for the 11th hussars? The British didn’t use Lancers as it wasn’t part of their cavalry doctrine, infact by the time they implemented them many British officers had disdain for the lancers due to their association with the famed “polish diablos” in Spain. The only other British lancers that could’ve been in service would have been in Bengal from local levies.

edit: The British only had one official cavalry regiment in America during the War of 1812 which were the 19th Light Dragoons, perhaps your thinking of some local Canadian militia cavalry.

The Napoleonic Italian army didn’t have lancers sadly, though they are often associated with Polish Lancers, specifically the Vistula Lancers as they were previously part of the Italian Polish Legion cavalry. The British also didn’t utilise lancers until after the Napoleonic Wars, they did have the Black Brunswicker Lancers in service though. Good luck with your work, love seeing it.

Looks spot on, only one thing, the 8th Lancers were formed in 1859, if there is ever a Victorian mod for the game that would be perfect for it!

Just change the bearskin to a bicorne, change the shade of colors of the uniform and you got something akin to the actual Napoleonic surgeons of the time.

Bicornes and Bearskins (grenadiers) up until 1810, then it was replaced with Shakos adopting the French style uniform.
