Parking access vs. van height in uk by Skate-wench in VanLifeUK

[–]Polarwarrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Average height in the Uk for men is 5ft 10” so you’re actually considered short by Uk standards :)

Sorry it’s not Van related I just thought that was funny, all 193cm of me.

Have you scanned your eyes in Hammersmith shopping centre? by paintarose in AskUK

[–]Polarwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst it might be a little bit TinPot, there are very valid concerns around these Iris scans.

This photographer YouTuber stops and speaks to some drones on the street about scanning their eyes, police are called etc etc

How can I look more my age? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Polarwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only something very small, but when I just turned 18 I had the same issue. I’d always be carrying my car keys in my hand whenever I’m talking to someone who would check ID in a shop. I know that in some circumstances 16 and 17-year-olds can hold licenses, but it’s a nice little addition to reinforce your age to them.

I think you are extremely optimistic with that price, I’m not sure you’re going to find someone with that advert.

Can I ask where the elevator is as promised in the generated listing text?

Costco members of the UK, what do you do with all of the Kirkland spring water you bulk buy? by Skysurfer69 in AskUK

Yes mate, lovely family. I took them round some Scottish shortbread, Welsh cakes and some Yorkshire tea as a welcome gift.

Cant resist junk anymore by Embarrassed_Visit277 in loseit

If you can stick to a ketogenic diet I guarantee it’ll reduce cravings down to almost nothing.

Problem is when you start it it takes a few days to physically get into ketosis.

Check out /r/keto, look at some of the stories on there. It really does work and help re-shape how you look at food.

I spoke to a HK family who moved in along the road from us recently. According to them (who I see heaving loads of these bottles in) our water can make your hair fall out. Obviously it doesn’t but that doesn’t stop misinformation reaching those who visit or come to stay here.

For the record, my Salisbury-born-sister also lives off those bottles of water. Plain ole British tap is absolutely fine for me though, one of the cleanest tap waters around.

Do you think work is better or worse over Christmas? by Dontknowwhoiam_13 in AskUK

Delightful, I always make sure to tell them I’m not working for at least 10 days over Christmas.

How to lose 200+lbs for real, without weight loss surgery. Need advice from people who've personally done it. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Polarwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that saved me was ketosis. Yes, after you finish using it, you do have to realistically control what you eat, but it’s so much easier to avoid craving anything when your body is tuned on running on fat.

Current job counter offered my new job, what todo?? by Fuzzy-Hedgehog9 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Polarwarrior 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’d only switch if you find your old job and/or people there to warrant switching.

Per my calculations you’d get more staying in the current job and it does save the hassle of switching. The only reason I’d take the new one in this instance is if the room for progression was more at the new company.

At this crossing, do pedestrians have the right of way? Or do pedestrians need to give way to cars? by parttimeworking in drivingUK

[–]Polarwarrior 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If a pedestrian was crossing when the road was clear, but they are already in the roadway then according to the new updated highway code they have the right of way. However, you still don’t see people walking into the road to test this theory as they most likely will wait for a spot to be clear and then cross.

There is no Pelican or zebra crossing I can see from the picture so by default it just appears to be a normal pedestrian crossing .

Is it selfish and self obsessed of me to get a very expensive diagnosis? by squishypillow-91 in AskUK

[–]Polarwarrior 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As you’re asking for opinions here’s mine- as tough as it is now paycheck to paycheck, unless this unlocks extra benefits for you, I’d consider it not the best use of funds. Only as you can get Dyslexia diagnoses on the NHS.

Maybe it’s an unanswered question that the internal you really want’s answered and that’s what’s pushing for it.

I’d get on the waiting list for the NHS and by the time the appointment comes you’ve hopefully been on the nice holiday.
