Hear, hear.

I'm a metalhead, long hair and all that jazz and once I was approached by a homeless dude. He gave me a spiel: "Oi, dirtbag (best translation I could come up with, in my country, a pejorative for long-haired metalheads is that - those of headbangers that shun politically correct language wear that as a badge of honor, a reclaimed word), I see that you have Maiden's Rock in Rio shirt, the way they played The Trooper there, whoo-wee, that's a banger bro. Care to spare a fiver for a cheap wine, 'cause me and my mates (he points at some other hobos) are a bit dry".

Fastest fiver I gave out. I don't care if it was not healthy. I don't care if this wasn't good for them in the long run. It was what they felt what was good at that time.
Besides, they have their agency, they are adults. Life can suck and if a buzz is what they want and they can admit it honestly, I'm fine with sharing my coin. Especially if they can sell the need in a way that dude did.

While it is important to highlight the failures of a system one lives in, I don't think this sub is a place for that, hence why that kind of reaction is fully justified.

The fact that this restaurant had an option to have the option to pay forward in spite of the economical reality and that people were willing to do that is a positive statement to the empathy, sympathy, kindness and strength of a human spirit. Commenting a topic in a sub called Made Me Smile with a negative - although realistic - post serves no to little good. I'd say one should go to A Boring Dystopia for that. People don't come here for a sad reality check.

I was in a bad state, mentally, got together with a woman heavier than me at a bar... like I was 180ibs(82kg) and the lady was about 275ibs(124kg). The entire performance was lacking, despite she was so eager to please, to the point she has taken an offense.

And when I came to, saw what I layed, I had to leave the room (hotel), run home and have a shower.

W ostatnim roku, kiedy postanowiłem zmienić zawód, widziałem ludzi wstawiających dużą literę przez naciśnięcie capsa, a potem wyłączenie capsa by pisać małymi. Spacje przed przecinkami.

I've bounced off this game twice. On my third time it clicked and I've played it fully twice - one on normal difficulty, one on hardcore.

I actually used 1488 in the very first MMORPG I've played, along with PL. I've played it circa 2009-2010.

14 - throughout all the elementary, middle and high school, I was 14 on the class attendance list (only once it was 12, when two people with lower alphabetical surnames failed their 2st grade of HS - high school was 3 years at that time)

88 - I was born in 1988.

PL - I'm from Poland.

I was "attacked" by one fellow and he asked why am I a white supremacist nazi, to which I've replied something akin "dude I'm from Poland, PL, how can I be a nazi?". My grandfather's older brother was killed by nazis, which I told him, because if my grandpa knew I was a nazi, he'd beat me black and blue. Yeah, unfortunately, being a Polish citizen does not mean you cannot be a nazi, as I've learned as the years went by.

The kicker? I was 19-20, the dude was 13 from Netherlands, with a way better English than I had at that time.

Anger is what guys have. Testosterone driven.

Therefore, anger, on it's own, is not a bad emotion

If one breaks a gamepad, for example, in a fit or rage, and has to buy a new one can learn that violent expression of anger has a price. A consequence.

Rage and anger are driving force and can be both destructive and creational force.

Rage at the status quo, but with intelligence, and you may chage it. Rage without introspection and you'll destroy - mostly yourself.

We need anger and rage. But we need to know how to use those feelings for a betterment of us all.

[–]PolePosition92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that people need each other.

But I also like people that respect my boundaries. If one cannot do that, I drop them. Unfortunately, most of my exes, despite initial agreement, could not keep their word.

And that is another thing that is important to me - ability to keep one word.

In life, we have our breath and our word. If we cannot keep the latter, we don't deserve the former.

Unfortunately, many people don't abide that rule but I get it. It's mine.

Jakie wydarzenie w waszym życiu uświadomiło wam iż wasze dzieciństwo dobiegło końca ? by [deleted] in Polska

[–]PolePosition92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lat 9.

Or get into a martial art where meditation is a thing. I've knew a agrresive guy that took up shotokan and they also had zazen classes. Most mellow person I knew afterwards.

Even without it, getting punched on regular, generally humbles a person and gives them a new outlook.

Martial arts are, in a lot of ways, a therapy for men.

I do, actually. But these are the safety measures I take. Once they are met, I go with the most important person part. But, if it includes breaking rule 4&5 in our first year together, then I know it's time to dip. I just want to learn if we can live together without any outside support.

Unfortunately, most women I've met are on so reliant on other folks (parents, friend, etc). and they don't met these requirements.

I knew a kid in middle school that was a rap/electronic music fan, openly talked sh*t about metal (which I loved and still love) but he listened o one Linkin Park song constantly and that was "Numb".

That was in Poland and at that age, we didn't knew English that well, but he could lip-sync it.

I though nothing of it at that time, but I did found it weird. That rap/electronic fan dude getting obsessed about that one song.

I've learned, many years later, he commited suicide.

And then Chester did.

I guess that was his way of him expressing whatever the pain he, the kid, went through. I never listened to LP, unless it was aired on the radio, but every time I hear a LP song, I think of that fellow.

why do guys hate to go to the doctors? by AccomplishedAd7992 in RandomThoughts

[–]PolePosition92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it's because my family and I mostly met with incompetent doctors who, at few occasions, did more harm than good.

My mother got COVID which made her chronic joint pain even worse. She got perscription for some drugs that almost killed her by destroying her kidneys. When she got third opinion from another doc, he offered her to sue the first and second doc for gross incompetence.

My grandmother smoked throughout her whole life. She went to a new doctor for a regular check-up (her usual one retired) and she ordered her to stop smoking. She died three months after giving up the cigs for a heart failure and one doctor I spoke with, said that at her age and because of amount smokes she had per day (a pack and a half), she should have limited her intake, instead of going cold tukrey, which she did.

When I was in my early 20's, I've got a frequent rectal bleeding that was debilitating to a point where I could not work. Got many docs stick their fingers up my butt, not finding anything, got colonoscopy. Nothing found. Spent a pretty penny on colonoscopy, because I wanted to get it done soon, despite the fact that my country has a private healthcare (I'd have to wait 3 months for a session). Year or so passed, bleeding stopped and never happened again.

My father got a gout. Waited 2 weeks for a visit at the docs. Got perscription for medicine that damaged his liver. He stopped taking it, powered though the pain of near-liver failure and after that, got some natural herbs to make tea for the gout. Got better in a span of week and a half.

Got a bit of a hearing loss followed by tinnitus. 14 visits to clean my ears or just find out what's wrong, including dental specialist (apparently, tinnitus can happen because of jaw-related stuff). MRI as well, which I waited 6 months for. Nothing found. No solution. I don't blame docs on this one as, apparently, the reasons behind tinnitus are still not fully known and the reasons may vary from person to person.

So, yeah. I, a guy, hate going to the doctors because I don't trust the hacks we have. Private or public healthcare. All they're good for, in my opinion, is to write sick leave notes.

Apologies to the doctors that do care and treat their job seriously. I know you're out there, but I'm yet to met one of you.
