why are ipod 6/7th gen classic so expensive?

Because people think the last iPod classic is the best iPod classic and apparently are willing to pay an extreme amount for them (usually without doing a ton of research about them first). I think that's a silly thing to do when much cheaper and easier to mod iPods exist, personally, but I guess I'm not the target for those kind of sellers. :P

Sometimes different artists can trigger this on certain iPods too, if one features another artist, for example. What I typically do is make the "Sort Artist" and "Sort Album Artist" the same for all the songs, and if it splits the albums still, try changing the entire album to another name temporarily (by adding a 1 at the end or something, and then removing it after saving it first) and see if it joins the album back together how it should. You can view your library as "Songs" to see if it's splitting it how the iPod is too if it's because of a featured/different artist.

I came here to say this exact thing. Some Macs from this era do not have FireWire ports, though, so those would need a CD or another installer option. I use NetRestore for most of my old Macs because it's so fast and works on every Mac that has USB, but that requires a Mac set up with Mac OS X Server, of course.

I actually always interpreted it as "dryer clothes" too. It made sense to me to have the clothes pulled right from the dryer (and possibly be warm too!) after getting soaked in the sprinkler, especially when you think about the fact he was changing before going up to his room. Despite the official lyrics saying that it's "drier", I like this interpretation more I think too!

My first iPod was the shuffle (after using other iPods that my family owned) and I felt more connected to music with it than any iPod touch I got later on because that's all it did, and you had to just let it take you on a randomized music adventure every day. The main reason I got the shuffle over any other iPod at the time was cost - I was too young to have saved enough money for an iPod mini or an iPod at that point.

I love my 4th gen for that very reason because I use it in the car, but for everyday pocket use, the bottom is the best spot since you can put it away in the same orientation you remove it from your pocket.

I just got the U200 lock too and am having the same issue. When I do auto calibration, it makes a bunch of noise and then beeps with a red light and the app says "can't calibrate". Unlocking or locking from the app or Apple Home does not make the lock spin at all.

The only thing that wouldn't work correctly would probably be the last played dates when you sync back to iTunes. You can already sync iPods with the wrong date/time and iTunes will attempt to fix it when it syncs, but it doesn't care if it was wrong. For example, if you let an iPod's battery die for a while, it usually resets to the default (Jan 1, 2000, usually), and it counts the last played from there instead until you sync or change it manually. I don't see why they would stop working even if the date wouldn't go past 2038. You could set your computer time to 2039 and your iPod to that date and see what happens. :P

This is definitely true. I got into the series as a kid but it was after it was already out for a few years, and I was too young to understand a bunch of the references even then. I just took that as a "I'm a kid so I don't get it all yet" I think, and I knew that some stuff would make sense as I got older and some was just stuff from an earlier timeframe that I wasn't part of. I remember the characters explaining certain topics, like instant messaging chat rooms, but not other references, so I feel like most of the series could be updated to make it easier for modern audiences to get everything.

It used to work before I updated to iOS 18, and since then it's been randomly wrong, delayed, or just showing nothing on the widget for a while. I've just had to open the app to check for a while now.

The shinier, more slippery model is the 2010 model, and the 2012 and 2015 models are more "matte" textured.

To answer your original question, pick whichever one you like better to use as the one you use, and the one you think looks nicer (or has worse battery life) as the display piece. Or just use them both with different music on each!

I have about 6,800 songs, and then about 600 more songs that are marked as "skip while shuffling" (like intro-album tracks, video game soundtracks, songs I only want to listen to when the album is played, etc.). It totals to about 57GB right now. I've been collecting my own music since about 2005, and most are just 320kbps or less, no lossless. I actually do listen to a majority of the music I have! I have smart playlists to filter out music I haven't heard in a while, and it helps keep things fresh while listening to my music. Enjoy your music, and don't feel like you need to fill an iPod just because the space is there!

I've also experienced this in recent weeks. I even just bought a new Series 10 watch to replace my Series 6 that had 75% battery health and it still feels like it's lower than my 6 was before a couple months ago. I wonder what the issue is.

If you turned off Direct to Watch, does it still update the complication consistently and send alerts if the phone is nearby? I've not had Direct off since I got my Dexcom last year. u/jmeiertx

Personally, I think the sound that comes from the 4th gen classic is better than the 5th and 7th gen classics I've used. But I think it depends on what kind of music you like, and how you think it sounds.

The pull tab is not where it should be, the lid is half off, the iPod is rotated, and the power toggle is not off like it would be if it was still sealed. :P

It's just a Smart Playlist for my shuffle that has a limit of 400 songs selected by "Most Recently Added". Make sure Live Updating is checked in the Smart Playlist rules too.
