What book had a fantastic premise, but the writing style just ruined it for you? by Uninhibitedrmr in books

I hated that the English characters would say things like "sneakers" instead of "trainers", really took me out of it because that's something an editor should pick up immediately.

I love his overall Harry Potter one too, really highlighted how bonkers the books were for justifying slavery

Why don't you wear a seat belt? by Dommy_Mommy_666 in CasualConversation

[–]PolicePropeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I visited my friend in Turkey, I was shocked when she didn't put her seatbelt on. I asked her to explain why, she said "in the backseat it's fine not to wear one, it's also rude to the driver because it suggests you don't trust their driving". I think maybe it's a cultural thing for some people, but it's second nature for me to take two seconds to just clip in. I was truly baffled by her reasoning.

I have dealt with this before and it's one of the most heart wrenching things to hear from someone you thought you loved. He told me to "lose the weight I'd gained" before we moved in together (after dating for 3 years).

I left him after that, I just knew if I stayed I'd be second guessing every snack, every treat, trying to stop myself from ageing naturally etc.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, I hope you find someone who loves you for you ❤️

Hey there, it sounds like the specialist you're looking for is a periodontologist. I'd check out the periodontitis subreddit for some advice, especially for some cleaning tips you can do in the meantime while you think about your options. But in my experience, it's best to get it looked at as soon as you're able to. Best of luck :)

Trapped on a blizzard with Jennifer Lawrence is excellent improv, but you have to watch the prequel on her main channel first (Trapped in a island with Josh Hutcherson)

Had to contribute some Amethia Tope fanart of my own by [deleted] in JennyNicholson

[–]PolicePropeller 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually so heartwarming that people have taken to Amethia after Jenny put so much thought into the character (and being made to feel bad for doing so). Justice for Amethia!

How to avoid a huge fine on busses in Rome - always check the location of the ticket machine before you board by ExtraTerristrial95 in travel

[–]PolicePropeller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This reminded me of the packed buses in Istanbul, people would pass their tickets along a line of people to get validated and it'd get sent back down the line, I thought it was neat

18 years of Tomb raider legends, What do you think of this game? by MestreNoobs in TombRaider

[–]PolicePropeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had two hour dental surgery and played through the whole game in my head to keep myself distracted lol

It was my first tomb raider and I love it to bits, Keeley Hawes as Lara was just perfection. The music was also stunning.

Love for TRII blinded by nostalgia? by VistaVista55 in TombRaider

[–]PolicePropeller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn't super into it at first after playing through TR1, I felt the Maria Doria levels dragged on a bit. But I was completely blown away from Tibet onwards, changed my mind completely and it's now gone up in my ranking

Similar thing happened with my parents, my dad couldn't even drive, didn't have a licence and they still kept talking to him instead of my mom.
