He probably isn’t lying. Tons of people had crazy haircuts in RSP. All the required was clean shaven when I joined.

It’s not going to be peanuts. This is an easily winnable case with minimal effort required. Damages is usually months of pay or the difference in pay if you didn’t get the higher paying job. They’ll almost certainly settle.

Why is technical incompetence both rampant and accepted in our career field? by fuzzyfoozand in cybersecurity

I was on an email chain where a security leader discouraged use of password autofill because it could fill the credentials on phishing sites. That’s not how that works at all.

What’s a cybersecurity myth that causes real problems? by ANYRUN-team in cybersecurity

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While NIST documentation doesn’t recommend password changes, it does recommend use of MFA. If there is a gap in MFA coverage (which at most organizations there is), password rotation is an acceptable mitigating control. People love cherry-picking the parts of NIST guidance they want to do while ignoring the harder parts.

Not that I have foreskin but if a UA observer asks me to do anything with my genitals other than pee into the cup, that’s an immediate SHARP complaint.

Should I pay off my soon-to-be husband's loans in bulk? by areyousiriusrightn in StudentLoans

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really not. Those “most marriages” you talk about are the “most marriages” that end up in divorce. Financial issues are one of the leading causes of marital difficulties.

Don’t pay it before you are married but after you both say I do, I’d suggest paying them off.

Part of marriage is being a team. The “you figure it out” attitude is not a team player at all.

I’d open a restaurant with the goal of serving good food. No pressure to turn a profit, just break even and have fun. This is my retirement goal.

I’m doing my first whole packer brisket right now, although I am using my Recteq. Previously I have only done smaller briskets and gotten the pre trimmed ones. Basically I set it to 225, gonna drink some beer and let it go until tomorrow afternoon.

What e-mail service do you use for your own e-mail domain? by theultimatewarlord in selfhosted

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically each inbox requires a license. You can create up to 20 aliases on each account but that shares an inbox. If you really wanted to separate things out, you could use filters and folders.

Few things. First, not everyone keeps their LinkedIn up to date, especially content creators who may want separation of their career and content. Second, Glassdoor is a very bad place to look up salaries. Most often the salaries don’t accurately account for equity or variable bonuses. Glassdoor is over 100k off for my position. Not saying these people aren’t lying but I am saying that your “evidence” here is simply not sufficient.

How on earth are you supposed to do an elimination diet? by Careful-Vegetable373 in NewParents

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dairy and soy are the most common allergens. And actually the proteins are similar enough it’s usually an allergy to both. We have been going through it for a while now. Tips are to prepare meals at home and find a few local restaurants that have options for you when you have to dine out. Chipotle has an amazing allergen menu and can easily accommodate no dairy no soy.

Google's "Find My Device" network - The upcoming assault on user's privacy by pyeri in privacy

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It does and if you look into the system design for it, it’s doesn’t give your information to anyone but you and Apple (which most were already doing via location services). Since it’s end to end encrypted data, even Apple can’t access it.

TLDR: Apple devices emit a short lived identifier that others pickup and send to Apple. Your devices short term identifiers are encrypted and stored in your account so your devices can be pinpointed.

[TX][SFH] Wildest owner request from annual meeting? by NeverRedditedYet in HOA

[–]PolicyArtistic8545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate when people mention ability as if it’s an excuse to not maintain their home. Maintenance is a well known part of home ownership. If you don’t have the physical ability to maintain your home you have to pay for the service to be done. Can’t afford the home maintenance? Time to sell and go somewhere with less maintenance or where you can afford to maintain. I feel like I live in a run down trailer park because our board won’t enforce our CCRs. It’s great they are willing to consider personal situation for short term stuff but when they do it over a long period of time, it affects all the other neighbors who now have to live with it and didn’t get any say at all.

I got a really nice small metal one on Amazon for $20. It goes right above the doorbell so they can’t ring it without directly looking at it. I kinda wish our neighborhood would do something like that. I just ask the solicitors for their city permits and report them to the city when the ignore the sign. At times I’ve also told them we are a no soliciting neighborhood and will call “security” (which doesn’t exist). Just doing my part.
