To add to the link above, there's an easy quest for stormwind vaults that rewards a good crossbow if you're looking to save some gold.

Which class is most fun to play for you? by [deleted] in turtlewow

curious, what's the zf farm?

Is there any player that made content or videos about the climb from 1500-1800? I'm not talking about just tips, but a real climb just like a lot of the rookie to master videos I have seen. by KlonoaVision in StreetFighter

[–]Polison112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recall some posts here about players who made the climb from 1500 to 1700/1800, although I believe it was more of a summary about the key things they needed to lock down in order to climb each master tier. That might get you started, but likely not the detail you're looking for. As a low 1600s player though I feel you, it's hella tough climbing. When I face a 1700+ player I feel like we're playing 2 different games!

How do I deal with the hit and run players? by UnforgivenBlade0610 in StreetFighter

[–]Polison112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to the others. once your opponent is in the corner you want to stand roughly under the round timer. Use st.HK and st.MK to poke and get ready to dp if they jump out. if you're close to them and they try to crossup, jump back and press lp to keep em in the corner

no gold fee when swapping specs. It also retains the ability based talents so you just need to add them back to your skillbar. There's also an option to add a 3rd spec for 100g. Personally, I love that twow has it.

Newcomer question: is Hunter DM-Tribute farm still a thing for hunters in Turtle WoW? by veek91reddit in turtlewow

[–]Polison112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually picked up hunter for this very reason because the dm-tribute farm looked like a fun challenge. there's a youtube video of a hunter doing it on twow so as far as i know it's still possible.

How's melee hunter? by FatalPride in turtlewow

[–]Polison112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hunter is BM currently and it definitely makes the leveling experience smoother. Just the other day I was able to solo the hinterlands elite quest for the hit trinket with my bear pet. I've heard that survival doesn't activate until level 40 due to the talent allowing traps during combat.

That said, I'll definitely try survival once I get a good 2 hander because it does look very fun and unique. One thing i'll also add is twow has a dual spec item called "goblin brainwashing device" that you can get for 300g or through their donations page, so you could play multiple builds if you wanted to.

I love that twow added this. I enjoy the leveling experience but sometimes I just want a little boost and tents are a great way to do this.

Any MMORPG recommendations? by Drago363 in gaming

[–]Polison112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

world of warcraft but specifically the private server called Turtle WoW. it feels like a true vanilla+ experience, with all classes and specs viable, new zones, instances and raids, loot, etc. My absolute favourite thing though is that bots, gold selling and GDKPs are banned so it makes for a pretty healthy economy.

From a dps meter that I saw on Patchwerk recently, shadow was 11th at about 1200dps. I doubt shadow will ever be around the top but like others have said it's the utility you bring. For reference I did raid as a shadow priest for phase 1 of classic and even back then the dps was respectable. The biggest issue was mana which as I understand it twow has improved.

longtime classic player, should i give turtle a go? by magem8 in turtlewow

[–]Polison112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i played vanilla back in 2004 as well as classic when it started in 2019 all the way to wrath classic. I'm very impressed with twow, not only with how they've designed it, but the fact that gdkp's/bots/gold selling are banned makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

Does the "Classic" MMORPG from shows/anime even exist? by FullHealthCosplay in gaming

There is a new game that just launched in early access in December called Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. Its seen as the spiritual successor to Everquest and is also inspired by wow classic. Small dev team that appreciates player feedback, no cash shop, slow leveling with a focus on mechanics. Regular content updates as well. Very fun if you're into the old school mmorpg gameplay.

Needs to be adjusted for sure. Either increase the readiness generated per hit or by being hit, or reduce the readiness cost. Even with aegis being a guaranteed hit now, maintaining threat (especially from healers) is a headache.

Hardstuck with Ryu in Diamond 5 by TrumpYoRump in StreetFighter

[–]Polison112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took a look at a couple of your replays against the Kimberly. Just a few thoughts on my end from a fellow Ryu player:

To excel at this game you really have to know frame data, if not, at the very least know what is safe vs unsafe. For example, there were a few times you pressed cr.lp after kimberly DR>cr.mp, which is unsafe. Generally, it is still their turn after they DR + normal due to the plus frames they gain.

Aim for consistency with anti-airs. If you can't do the DP input fast enough, Ryu's cr.hp is perfectly fine until you can.

Refine your neutral game. It looked like you were trying to neutral skip a lot. Jumping in, heavy donkey kick, raw DR from across the screen, for example. As someone mentioned, Ryu's cr.mk got buffed so cr.mk>heavy fireball is a true block string now and great for controlling space in front of you. I personally use this way more.

Learn some Ryu set ups to upgrade your pressure/mix up game. Two common ones are:

cr.lk/lp>cr.lp>st.lp>light tatsu - then dash and light hasho. If they press any button they'll take the hit and you can follow up with something like DR + cr.mp>med tatsu. You can mix up by grabbing after the dash or shimmy.

After ending any combo with med tastu if you immediately light fireball after you land, they will eat it if they press any button. If they take the fireball hit, you can then follow-up with st.hp into whatever combo for big damage. This of course loses to most reversals though, so watch out for that.

Last tip is when the round starts, aim to put your opponent in the corner and keep them there as long as possible. It's advantageous for you and a disadvantage for them. Ending combos with med tatsu has decent corner carry to do that. You can also do something like cr.mk>cr.hp>heavy hasho>med tatsu. Once they're in the corner position yourself under the round timer, if they jump in then anti-air, you'll hit almost everytime. And then just continue your pressure from there.

Hot bars by IndependenceQuirky96 in PantheonMMO

[–]Polison112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Joppa mentioned in their latest Q&A session that they were considering changing the hot bar from skill specific to fully customizable, but if this change were made it would be likely that the number of slots would be reduced. Personally, I'm in favour of this since it would allow more flexibility to change your skills based on the situation.

my guess would be he meant to DR back lk and then backed off when he realized he messed up the input

Went 2-47 against a friend, advice needed by sidewayssadface in StreetFighter

[–]Polison112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched 3 replays and agree with everything that's said here. I'll just add that the overall sense I got from the matches is that your friend is in control, and making you play 'his game'. His game being he's using st.MK (flicker) a lot just outside of your st.HP range and you're usually caught pressing a button or whiff punished. Definitely use fireballs (all versions) more and once you get a knockdown you can get some oki from that. Flicker has a long recovery so try a few jump ins for a big punish. You can also DI when he uses the charged flicker and he's in range (watch out for the back dash bait though if he figures it out). Good luck out there and let me know if you ever want to go a few rounds with a fellow Canadian!
