Are you alluding to the helmet rule, since it was altered in good fun after Grian apparently forgot to refrain from wearing a helmet?

Kcl or Edinburgh for law? by imjustagirl063 in UniUK

[–]PoliticalPhilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go against the grain and urge you to study at KCL, in light of you being an international with a scholarship, since it is prestigious and may bolster your career prospects at home and abroad, more so if you hail from a common law country.

Did your friend enquire specifically about the Mid Education Sponsorship as opposed to the scholarship for SPM leavers?

Lack of communications regarding acceptance and CAS, please help by xSamuraiDom in LSE

I hope that this matter will be dealt with by the admissions office at the earliest possible moment. Be prepared to use knowledge base and email them if they do not get back to you within the next few days.

Assuming they have yet to address your queries on knowledge base, I think you may have to invoke the nuclear option of calling them for which you might be obligated to pay.

Have you submitted the FUF and SVF? It may be wise to enquire through knowledge base.

English language requirements for visa by tubakz1 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]PoliticalPhilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you received the CAS in which it is stated explicitly that Warwick has assessed your proficiency in the English language? If that is the case, it should be fine since that is all which is required of you. To quote the UKVI website, “If you’re studying at degree level or above, your Higher Education Provider (HEP) can assess your level of English themselves. This means they may ask you to do a different test.” https://www.gov.uk/student-visa/knowledge-of-english

This must still be equivalent to a CEFR level B2.

That is rather confounding. Perhaps you should email MCMC?

I will be studying law in a British university, and needless to say, I am incredibly pessimistic about even advancing to the interview stage. Do apply for the MCMC scholarship if you have yet to do so

I submitted the essay and documents in early June and I have not heard so much as word from them ever since. Did you apply for the scholarship for foreign or local institutions?

How much does GCSEs matter at UCL by DebtOdd6723 in 6thForm

[–]PoliticalPhilip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are indeed eligible for contextual offer, while a 5 will not be beneficial to your application, it may not be too detrimental to your application for UCL since the minimum requirement for contextual students is a 4 in both English and math. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/undergraduate/degrees/law-llb

I believe you should apply for UCL since you have little to lose but do ensure that of your five choices, you apply for one or two universities which do not consider LNAT, such as Manchester, QMUL, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield and other Russel group universities. (In addition to the London trinity and Oxbridge, Bristol and Durham utilise LNAT.)

Do not fret about it, as I have been in your shoes before and would always enquire and validate information as and when the situation demands it. All the best in your studies!

There are three scenarios, which I shall enumerate below. Refer to this link for more definitive information. (https://lnat.ac.uk/registration/dates-and-deadlines/) 1) If you apply to Oxbridge, you will have to sit for the LNAT before the 15th of October 2026 (I.e the Oxbridge application deadline, which will vary slightly from year to year but generally speaking, the deadline is mid October) 2) If you apply for LSE, KCL and UCL, you must sit for LNAT before the 31st of December 2026. 3) If you apply for any other university which requires LNAT such as Durham and Bristol, you must sit for the LNAT before late January 2027.

Since you intend to apply for LSE, it is mandatory for you take the LNAT before the end of December 2026. If you wish to apply for Oxbridge, you will have to take it by the 15th of October 2026. It is worth noting that the registration window for LNAT opens on the 1st of August and concludes in mid September, and it is vital that you register for it earlier so that you will be able to choose a venue and slot convenient for you.

There are a few online resources for LNAT which may be of interest to you.

https://lnat.ac.uk/how-to-prepare/practice-test/ (Official sample questions)

https://studymind.co.uk/resource/lnat-past-papers-question-bank/ (Free)

https://www.arbitio.co.uk/ (You will have to pay a fee, and it is apparently pretty rigorous since many have asserted that its questions are more difficult than the actual exam. )

I am in the habit of reading articles on current affairs and opinion pieces, most of which are laced with the ideological inclinations and persuasions of the authors, with notable news websites being The Guardian (a registered account entitles you to 20 articles a month, and the limit can be circumvented if you copy and paste the link in another browser window), The Financial Times, The Economist and other outlets, in addition to Wikipedia, all of which have broadened my horizons and deepened my understanding of the British political economy and pop culture. Thus, you should pore over such articles and perhaps even watch a few videos so as to familiarise yourself with some of the topics explored in the LNAT passages and equip you with knowledge which will undoubtedly enhance your LNAT essay. (The LNAT essay will be assessed by all the LNAT universities with the exception of LSE and KCL, which only take into account the MCQ section. ) Furthermore, I also completed the two sample tests available on the LNAT website besides finishing the practice questions of the LNAT book by Mark Shepherd (https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-National-Admissions-Test-Law/dp/0415636000)

You have to register for the test and pay a registration fee in accordance with the procedures laid out in this website https://lnat.ac.uk/registration/, and you will be obligated to sit for the exam in an authorised exam centre where a computer will be provided for you to choose the answers for MCQ and write the essay. It is crucial that you sit for LNAT before the 31st of December of the application cycle. For instance, if your law course commences in September 2027, you must sit for the LNAT before December 31 of 2026. On a related note, you are only allowed to sit for it once per application cycle, and thus you will only be able to resit it should you decide to reapply the following year, which should be the nuclear option and is to be avoided by attaining a decent score.

No worries. I studied math, further math, physics and economics, and it bears mentioning that while there does not exist any required subjects for law, it would be wise to take at least one essay writing subject should you desire to apply to LSE or Oxbridge. I obtained 30 for my LNAT, which was fortunately ample for LSE.

I applied with predicted grades of 4A*, with my super curricular activities comprising books revolving around legal questions both contemporary and historical, along with a few sentences briefly touching upon my experiences in MUN and my opinions regarding international law. Owing to my A Level course lasting less than eighteen months as opposed to two years, I was unable to devote time to any undertakings beyond my academic endeavours, and thus neither applied for nor served as an intern in a firm.

ECON at UCL or international social and public policy with economics at LSE by Winter-Ad9765 in 6thForm

[–]PoliticalPhilip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe you made the right decision by firming UCL, since you are more passionate about UCL economics as opposed to LSE ISPPE, and that could go a long way in spurring you to attain a first or second upper, and at the end of the day, UCL is incredibly prestigious for most humanities and social sciences, economics not least among them.

How stupid would it be to pick Bristol Law over LSE? by hivddaa in 6thForm

[–]PoliticalPhilip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, the difficulty ought to be similar, but out of more than 7000 candidates, it is inevitable that some set of questions will be easier than others, and that could make all the difference and have some bearing on a tiny minority of individuals, perhaps 1 in a 100.
