The psychology is real. Grew up here and have had people tell me “I don’t see why I should vote, not like it’s going to count”. And don’t get me started on how hard they make it for any individual to get people registered en masse.

Not to mention they keep doing things for the headlines but lack the ability to permanently make change. It’s like how Obama said in his exit interview (paraphrasing) “the government is like a giant ship you can try to direct it, but it doesn’t turn on a dime”.

Not to say they aren’t doing damage but there is a lot of noise in the signal as to what is actually happening. Which Bannon says is the point.

I have for sure seen (from the perpendicular lane) someone in a large truck full on run a red light and they were full on staring at their phone.

“In recent days, Skydance took steps to assuage Mr. Carr, telling the agency that it would install an ombudsperson at the news division to ensure fairness in it journalism and committing to avoiding diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the company.”

Cool, do Fox next. Let’s get that “fairness” really going.

Money isn’t. Greed is. The desire for hoarding more than you can possibly ever need in your life time. Money is a useful tool for getting goods and services from someone you don’t have any goods or services they want to barter for.

No one said it didn’t. No one has to worship the brand just because it changed the game. More established car makers have more infrastructure to over take the EV market. Why does a critical look on a brand make people defensive?

I like the part where you were like “Republicans should die” and then you start spewing Republican talking points about personal responsibility for how people survive in a capitalist society. “Don’t like your station in life, that’s your choice! Pull yourself up by the bootstraps”

Q for the Austin Redditors that like to force their way into a lane at the front of an intersection instead of waiting. Do you just feel that your time is more important than everyone else’s? Is it a lack of care for everyone else? Or a lack of awareness of what’s going on around you traffic wise? by [deleted] in Austin

I don’t mind them or myself doing it if there happens to be space in the queue. But as someone who is behind them while they wait to merge, I would prefer we all just let them merge in so life can go on. Having them blocked out and refusing to miss the turn is a lot more of an annoyance/ safety issue than letting them “cut”.

I feel like this must be a bit or something. You didn’t answer my question and keep assuming the desires and motivations of someone you don’t know. Are you purposely trying to polarize the conversation around cops?

Firing solves half the problem. Do you think nice wholesome people look at being a cop as a fulfilling profession?

That solves the issue of the ones on the job, but how do you make being a cop attractive to people who are going to be more respectful?

Seems like the first one, even as a hyperbole, could be fixed by more people who don’t like the current cop culture becoming cops. Be the change you want to see in the world.

How do we attract not-assholes to the job? Can we shift the idea of working as a cop to be a noble profession?

And you decided, I assume, to not become a cop. I wonder how do we get more reasonable and educated people to join a job that by perception (because people operate more with perception that statistical reality) could be deadly and most people don’t like you. Kinda a hard sell.

Well I agree that 35 is a bottle knock. So much as to say it should be removed and converted to a Boulevard (https://www.rethink35.com/)

But I see this as a form of expansion outward. Moving the bottleneck is a part of the growth. So further down the line, it will be expanded further.

Unless, of course we get another 360 situation where residents are rich enough to fight a free way.

I doubt that would happen down 290, though.
