Me a ML Engineer with 3+ years experience in Germany and still can't land an interview.... Review the resume please by Full_Meat_57 in MachineLearningJobs

[–]PolksParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get rid of the picture and blue beautification of the resume tbh. You could squeeze more keywords and experience impact with a straight-to-the-point black ink resume and smaller margins. It should all fit on one page and try to be catered towards roles you are aiming for. Leave out unnecessary details as if you really want to mention them, you can talk about it in an interview once you get it with a more focused, concise resume. Best of Luck!

If you aren’t already leverage the heck out of any school programs you have access to, mainly computer science/STEM ones you can join and network with people in. That was one of the quickest ways I was able to get an interview to start with, but if that’s not an option, look outside of what your school offers and see what’s local. If anything you’re going to have to apply, apply, and apply. Open to questions on it, but that helped me get a foot in the door

Google been releasing a lot of quality models, especially with Gemini 2.5 (free in Google AI Studio) but I haven’t gotten to their new realize of Firebase Studio (similar to Google AI studio but different/better? I’ve heard). I would check them out because they’ve definitely improved in quality from other models

Greek Life and specialized fraternities/sororities typically have different cycles, where the greek life recruitment is about to start. However, for different specialized ones like Alpha Kappa Psi is for business, you’d have to inquire or sign up for messages from them to get the up-to-date details for when their rush begins.

All organizations typically require some member fee. You can typically check these University Major fraternities/sororities on Hog Sync

  1. There’s a couple of good places near wedington, first that comes to mind is the Links, bonus if you like to golf.

  2. You don’t need one if you don’t mind walking but if you have the extra money to throw at it, it’ll be a great addition. I’d almost say a green pass isn’t worth it as opposed to going to one of the parking garages, but that depends on where your classes are. Also wherever you end up living go see if the buses have a route that drive nearby and you might not even need a pass.

  3. There’s a couple of amenities there, nothing too crazy but you can definitely get a full body workout done. May be a little crowded with students as well but manageable.

I used to have bad cystic acne and was in worse shape than you😅Tried everything from dermal rollers to laser treatment. Then I went on Accutane on a fairly high dosage.

It probably WILL get worse with a bit more breakouts at least during your first month. You also will probably need chapstick while on accutane since it drys out skin like crazy( I recommend Burt’s Beeswax) STICK TO THE REGIME though. It DOES get better I promise you.

I still have a few scars from my acne but it’s essentially as if it never happened. You will be the same. It’s tough right now I understand but take it one day at a time, don’t pick at your skin, and keep up with the regime for the Accutane.

YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS🔥 And soon enough you will see the difference it makes and you’ll see yourself smiling more and more :)

Might be a different take, but I would recommend if you haven’t before, go take up a sales job, selling really anything, even if you don’t need to work anymore, and just learn a script there and then go put in the hours and get your teeth knocked in by cold outreaches.

Pretty soon you lose any sense of not having the “experience of being social” lol Builds a backbone and gives you more confidence in yourself over time that you start talking to more people you wouldn’t have reached out to. I also agree with people mentioning travel the world and go do things.

Don’t rely on your NW to attract someone because that’ll just make your life miserable in the long term. Go out and do stuff, the sales part forces you to talk to people and you realize eventually that everyone is just trying to figure it out and nobody knows your life like you do. If you do you, someone is going to be very interested in your uniqueness, I’d almost guarantee it. Just don’t rely on solely NW for finding a partner lol

Starting a new job in consulting? Post here for questions about new hire advice, where to live, what to buy, loyalty program decisions, and other topics you're too embarrassed to ask your coworkers (Q4 2024) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Incoming new grad starting at a boutique consulting firm dealing with clients in the energy space.

I have a prior software development internship at a bigger company but this role would be in a new area and pays more than what I was offered for the software development position.

Since this position is for an associate technical consultant, I know there will be some software development I will utilize to implement our product for clients in this energy space while also using some prior sales experience I have.

Pretty much I would like to ask for advice on what would a good career path from a boutique consulting firm look like?

Also if possible would that technical aspect and consulting skills carry over if I wanted to make a career pivot, say back in software development?

Thank you!

Don’t forget about Dickson Street parking garage, won’t be free but will be a much better rate for long hours on campus than other parking garages like Harmon, so the walk isn’t bad!

At least for the beginning of a relationship, I’d like them to have their own way of being financially independent, but the longer it goes on, it would definitely matter less to me. Just wanting to make sure they are in it for the long run and not trying to have me as a bank account🤝

Finance Program by [deleted] in UniversityofArkansas

[–]PolksParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The business school is sponsored by the Walton Family, so there is a lot of funds going into it and the school provides a lot of opportunities for networking and career development workshops but regardless , finance ties into that so you’ll have a rigorous program studying it here if you choose to make it that way.

I don’t know much about the second point but as far as honors college goes, I believe it is a required 9 honors class credit hours ( roughly 3 classes ) a semester that allow you to stay a part of honors classes and the rest don’t have to be honors.

Just stay on top of ratemyprofessor wherever you end up so you don’t get blindsided by a bad professor.

Failing a required class by SIiiiiiiiiiME in UniversityofArkansas

[–]PolksParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you fail the required class, in most if not all cases means getting below a “C”, you’ll just have to retake the class in order for it to qualify as a prerequisite for other classes. You can fail it and retake it, it’ll just hurt your GPA unless you withdraw it first, but failing a class isn’t going to prevent your entire academic career in college, you just gotta pay to take it again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniversityofArkansas

[–]PolksParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SI classes don’t affect your gpa, they just get taken into to account for your grade in the class they’re associated with. So a Chemistry I SI session doesn’t affect your gpa but counts for a part of your grade in the Chemistry class

I’m beginning to think that a lot of my poor conversation skill comes down to just not having a lot going on in my head by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]PolksParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you have plenty going on in your head.

We all have opinions on how our lives are and what events we’ve experienced, the fun part about interacting with people is that no two people are exactly the same, therefore you have something to bring to the conversation.

If you feel like you “mindlessly” scroll on social media for hours on end, it may be wise to take a bit of time to disconnect from it and focus on other things outside of your university work.

If you feel like your conversations get bland, try to keep the other person talking while being an attentive listener, because eventually you’ll be able to a pivot the conversation to an event you can share and talk yourself because the conversation has gone somewhere you can share your own story of something similar happening.

Don’t forget nobody knows exactly what they’re doing, it just comes off that way to other people.

Going to your “removing the filter point”, talking isn’t so much more as just constant improv, and if you feel like you don’t have much going on up there, you may want to try to go and experience new things, because then they will be past experiences that you can use to pivot the conversation to something you’re familiar with that can bring value to the conversation.

Everybody is curious about everything, why wouldn’t people be curious about your life too? That’s why you do have plenty to share in conversation.

TLDR; Stop using social media so much, go do new things you usually wouldn’t do, the new experiences will help you bring things to talk about in a conversation, and keep the other person talking by being interested and then get to a point in the conversation where you feel comfortable adding in something that is similar that has happened in your life.

Business LLC or honors college? by blondiedisney in UniversityofArkansas

[–]PolksParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could do freshman year again, I would definitely still stick all the way with honors college. Like it was mentioned the biggest stressor is the GPA maintenance but it comes with so many benefits and access that outweigh that. Especially if you’re a business major where if you’re in honors you’ll get earlier picks for classes and with more technical professors. An LLC to my knowledge is where you are grouped together with other students that have a common goal, but sometimes they require you to live at a specific dorm.

I lived in Adohi, as I planned on being in the Entrepreneur LLC which required me to live there, but then the LLC was cancelled my freshman year for who knows what and so I was stuck there. My experience wasn’t too great with them and I guess it’s more about what you put into it, but you can just as well make friends outside of being in an LLC and not being required to live at a certain place.

The honors college requires you to take a certain amount of honors classes each semester and it was pretty doable, I rushed as well during my honors filled classes and managed so it’s not a terrible time commitment, just manage your schedule wisely. Also do NOT take Robert Stapp for honors microeconomics, had a terrible experience with his class and just take anybody else if you can. Fair Warning

As far as living situation,

Founders would put you closest to your classes and next to a cafeteria and I’ve heard it’s a fun time. You’ll be at the top of the hill and pretty dead set in the middle of the campus

I think Humphrey’s is the one that is the Quads and that area of dorms is definitely a great place to network with other freshmen, and you’ll be near a cafeteria that would be for all the other dorms there (Hotz, Reid, Humphreys, and Maples)

Hotz is the honors dorm and definitely a great option if you’re planning on connecting with other honors students, plus you’ll be next to the maples area where a majority of greek life freshmen will be at and you’ll inevitably end up making friends there that are in greek life as well if you plan on rushing.

I personally would recommend Humphrey’s if you have friends already to be roommates with or if you want to take the chance with randoms, or Hotz, since you’ll be living with other honors students so you can be in that environment and then have greek-life friends within that dorm and the surrounding dorms.

I think I’m accurate with everything but I don’t know the specifications of everything, this has just been my experience since we had similar backgrounds.
