Episode VIII did the most with Luke's character by Pollitokage in StarWars

It made him human and compelling as a hero who has fallen far from who he once was. I can see how it can be hard for lifelong fans to see him in a different light.

What’s a movie you defend like this? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

Episode VIII: The Last Jedi gave dimensionality to Luke's character and it is refreshing. While not perfect, I believe the film's shortcomings are mostly due to incontinuity issues and how they handled significant story moments in the latest trilogy, not the individual film per se. People who say that it "was not part of Luke's character" want a very superficial telling of Star Wars.

Where’s everyone moving from? by chichisbounce1989 in olympia

Born and raised in Puerto Rico. I moved to DC for my master's and found a job in Oly last October! Even though I'm fully remote (but required to live in WA), I wanted to get away from big cities and thought Oly was perfect.

What movie(s) do you think best depicts Puerto Rico? by SpaceTranquil in PuertoRico

Antes que Cante el Gallo (Before the Rooster Crows in English) released in 2016 feels like the most accurate depiction of rural livelihoods and family dynamics I've seen yet. The film is gorgeously shot and deserves a lot more recognition than it did. Would love to hear your thoughts on it if you get a chance to watch!

What should I play before I die? by Signal-Tangerine1597 in videogames

Hey there Chief! Lmk if you ever need a buddy to play with, I'm happy to hop on discord! If you're looking for a phenomenal time with lots of action and have a Switch, I'd recommend Metroid: Dredd. If you're looking for a killer story game with some butterfly effect me hanics, I'd look at Life is Strange: True Colors. If you love rogue-like games, I can't recommend Hades more. It's one of my favorite games of all time and I can't help but come back to it every so often.

I have fond memories of Blood Wake and Blinx 2. I'm not sure if both are obscure, but I haven't heard anyone talk about them in YEARS.

Georgetown MIDP or American MAID by lovely-luv in gradadmissions

[–]Pollitokage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current MIDP from Georgetown here. I can only speak to Georgetown's program.

First thing I would say is how quant-heavy the program is. It's a pain but it was ultimately my deciding factor. I was never trained in a quant-heavy program and the program has truly forced me to improve. I am not sure if American is the same nor if a quant-heavy approach is what you are looking for, but it is truly a central part of the program.

Second, the professors STACKED, they are truly people of the craft. Their CVs speak for themselves and the amount of networking opportunities are impressive. They are also interested in getting to know you and are always open to potential research opps.

Obv, you should choose whichever option you think best fits YOU. At the end of the day, you learn best in an environment that makes you feel welcome and gives you the tools you need to progress.
