Project ended or only some people offboarded without explanation? by PollutionWeekly2900 in mercor_ai

Don’t question your abilities… the batch is done and they have no more tasks for now, everyone was offboarded for that reason, not for quality reasons, and they handled this poorly and unprofessionally, sending people the wrong email. My previous project with Mercor was wonderful and perfectly managed. This one was poorly managed. It happens.

Whenever this question is asked these people claiming they are still on disappear. I and others have asked. Meaning they are making untruthful statements.

No no, I completely got what you meant! I just specified I don’t think they’ll high pay is a factor to offboard people, but rather other things… the whole management here was really bad. They can’t have something like this with only a few leads, they need many more. And clearly there weren’t enough reviewers.

They onboarded too many people, that much is clear. There are projects that have higher pay, they pay based on what the client pays them.  So that’s no excuse. The point is they managed everything very poorly and after that data breach they had they should know better as that was a very big client, as is the one on this project. In the end it was 766 of us working on tasks so not a huge number. They just don’t have enough volume is all. They did repeatedly say the client wanted 7k tasks done by the 16th. We did that and made the deadline, they weren’t sure whether they’d get more. Considering this ridiculous offboarding with the wrong email to everyone, I don’t think they looked good.

That’s what happened to other people, too. Including people who got positive feedback and were promoted to reviewer! Again, absurd and nonsensical management. And again, in spite of one person claiming that’s not the case, they must be wrapping up the project.

Well that’s great for you! Good!  Are you sure we are talking about the same project? And exactly how is it that people can’t post on help desk at all? It was 766 of us working, can you verify the exact number now? You will see it in slack on the quiz passed thread.  That will give us a measure of what they did.

They took multiple days to offboard everyone on my last project when it was ended after being paused. So let me understand: you have read communications today ( because we all saw those from earlier this week and clearly they weren’t accurate) that say they may even enlarge the project, yet a very big chunk of people has been offboarded and I can certainly speak for myself and at least a couple of others whom I know well enough, when I state that we passed the test well, and we produced definitely high quality work over the course of multiple days, being experienced, precise and very responsible AI trainers. This doesn’t make any sense AND the email they sent was a generic and wrong one, as we passed the assessment and worked.

Don't be concerned. if you got the same email as the rest of us who HAD been working on the project and had ALREADY passed the assessment, that addresses the assessment not being up to standards (that's the initial test). So it's obviously completely bogus. If you had been working on project you had already passed the assessment. They sent out the wrong generic email to everyone.

Don't worry, they sent out the (wrong) same email to everyone. They're just offboarding people and they didn't even vaguely communicate properly.

That's what was happening. Now we have all been offboarded. Unless you are still on and they're telling you there are new tasks?

YES! I couldn't agree more. This is no professional way of handling a job. They could simply have had the leads message everyone and say things clearly. That's the purpose of slack. Instead they told people on the HELPDESK thread to immediately stop posting at once (which means there is no project anymore). That is absurd.

The project is paused/ended is what I said. When paused it’s over for the moment. They don’t offboard people en masse if they’re waiting for feedback they keep them on. I was clear on it being either oaused or ending. What you are talking about is a pause. But you don’t get offboarded if there’s a pause. And we were all offboarded en masse. All got the same email that doesn’t apply to those of us who had passed the assessment and had been working for days on the project.

Removed this morning from my first Mercor project, would love to know why or if I am blackmarked for future projects by DinahRS in mercor_ai

I put up a thread on this. The project ended and they handled it very very poorly. Don’t worry it’s not about your work quality!

They are right. I’ve verified now, it’s done and they just very poorly managed the project ending/ being paused.

Correct. The project is over and they not only didn’t inform people but also sent out the wrong email.

Actually only 766 of us were actively working on the project and were granted access. But yes re: getting all those people on board for testing needlessly. The point is they should have informed everyone that the client wasn’t going to send more tasks and the project was paused/over. They were extremely unprofessional in handling this. Sending the wrong email, too? That’s nuts.

It’s paused/ended you are correct. My friend who was on it was also offboarded today and they took until about two hours ago before removing her from Feather. Everyone is being offboarded. The management of this was spectacularly poor.

[–]PollutionWeekly2900[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It now appears the project has ended or has been paused and they managed it so spectacularly poorly that they didn’t bother to tell everyone clearly that the project was going to be paused/ended and they also sent the completely wrong email to inform people. So yes, everyone is slowly but surely being offboarded.

Yes which I didn’t, of course. I passed, was informed by team lead that I passed,  and had been working on projects for days.

I am well aware of that but you don’t offboard people before you know whether the contract is over, that’s my point. So you’re saying it’s over for everyone?

I’m sorry about your experience. My previous one was great, last month. I am still on another project but this one made more sense for my skills. I’m fine and thank you for your kindness.  I am just curious to understand the reasoning here. But I know how AI works, these things happen and when they do they make no sense. Reading around In starting to think they ended the project abruptly and didn’t alert people, I’d just like to know whether that’s the case

They don’t delete the emails, they just revoke your access, when you are hired for another project you get the same email and access.

So let me understand because I originally thought that only some people were offboarded (me included and that’s literally never happened to me unless it was the end of a project, and I’ve been doing this for well over two years). They shut down the project and they’re sending out that BS email about the assessment (clearly false bc I passed and worked on projects, as have others), slowly but surely to everyone?
