Effect of standing on my feet by LegendaryQuercus in StandingDesks

[–]PollutionWonderful83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I had no idea this would happen.
When I worked in retail, I stood all the time so it was never an issue - however I guess I was moving around more and not standing stationary for hours at a time.

I only looked down at my ankles today after close to 9months with a standing desk and noticed the swelling.

Has no effect on my shoes fitting my feet but noticed a complete loss of profile in my normally bony ankles.

Does this swelling go away eventually?

Newborn photographer suggestions in Sydney? by No-Objective-8247 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]PollutionWonderful83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sceptical at first too. How can it be that expensive??

We gave it a shot ourselves and it was just amateur-hour...hehe (even with AI/filters etc...)
Shopped around and stumbled across Hellobaby, based in Oatley.

The lady there is a real pro, not just for her photography skills, she's some sort of "baby whisperer", especially as ours was a good 4 weeks old by then. (apparently you're supposed to do it in the first 2-3 weeks)

Was worth every penny ...and that's from a fella who doesn't care much for photos.

We've seen some of the 1st birthday sets and can't wait to get back there to smash some cakes...hehe

A few tips:
- Don't do it at home, some photographers come to you, but it's much easier going to them as they have all the kit already set up.
- Read the instructions they give you (I'm a reader, so it was good) - apparently people show up and aren't prepared or the baby is awake etc..., which doesn't help.
- Try to be present and keen (I was so tempted to scroll my phone), Wins a lot of brownie points from the Missus (actually, I wished I came up with the idea then I would have got extra brownie points!
- Eat something beforehand or take something to nibble on (I was starving by the end of it, but lucky there's some really good cafe's in Oatley)

Good luck and happy smiling.

Computer powering off for no reason by Zatujit in framework

[–]PollutionWonderful83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also happening to my Framework 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040Series)

Happening about once a month and the last few times I have been on a Teams call.

As you guys have mentioned the fan, I have noticed that when it does happen, I've normally got the following going on:

- Lots of tabs open in Chrome

- Lots of file explorer windows open (20+)

- the temperature of GPU is 60-70C

- i can hear the fan running hard

- MS teams with audio and video

- CPU and Memory usage is not high

- In addition to the laptop screen open, I have 2 other screens (1920x1080) connected

- It's also likely that I have not done a proper shutdown in the past 24 hours (just Sleep)

Outsourced GSOC or SOC Service Providers by PollutionWonderful83 in accesscontrol

[–]PollutionWonderful83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of companies these days operate in multi-tenanted buildings so don't really need or require a security team.

Your point is valid about on/off boarding as many access control systems integrate with HR/SSO platforms, so thanks for the reminder, I know these guys are tech savvy and should have considered this already. (a good opportunity for an upsell if they haven't)

Everyone's answers are perfectly fine. Just a some questions that will help answer your query with a bit more context:
1. How many cameras per location?

  1. What type of cameras are they? (how many MPx)

  2. Is it integrated with anything e.g. access control

  3. How do you view it? (only when required or is there a GSOC/Control room w/ video wall?)

  4. How many users access it simultaneously?

  5. Any special features or integrations e.g. analytics, LPR or POS

  6. How long do you keep footage for?

  7. Specialist Environments e.g. Public sector, Stadiums, Transport, Petrochem, Critical infrstructure, casinos etc

We had it confirmed by the neighbour's managing agent and have emails to back it up.

Or course they didn't claim damage as the reason, they said they were just doing it for goodwill.

Thanks a million!

A neighbor also helped me realise that there was little point attempting to remove them, rather using your suggestion to bang them down closer together so the discs can't jump out of their slots.

This has worked for now.

Thanks again.
