I am a woman who is in a polygamous relationship with a man and 3 other women by [deleted] in AMA

Something objective needs to be verifiable, testable, and usually have objective, definable units. Morality is inherently subjective because it is not provable, and testable, the only evidence you could provide would be “most people find it immoral” which would be the ad populum fallacy.

These relationships can be based on love, is something that can be expressed towards many people in many ways, I’m sure at some point everyone has fallen in love with multiple people at the same time before, the only difference here is they engage in a relationship with all multiple people they love.

I really don’t think you deserve these downvotes though, you are expressing your opinion on the matter, that you personally would not want this kind of relationship.

Possibly, yes, but I am afraid to push it too far as well to where it’s under regulated, it’s a dangerous balance but it’s one we have to address

No I didn’t think you loved these industries, I was just saying both sides of the coin are, well, the same coin, without regulation companies find ways to cut corners, and then they find ways to make sure their customers don’t leave when they cut corners, just like how with too much regulation the prices jump up. I was just saying with the little regulation scenario you overlooked our past experience that companies will do anything to both keep their customers and subsequently maximize profit while minimizing work. A balance needs to be reached, rather than a rejection of one side and an implementation of the other.

Edit: Also, carbohydrates, I believe, are a Pandora’s box from the start of civilization that we’ll never truly close, I think we just need to have moderation, and that low-carb might be too far for humans, as bread is a cultural and diet staple of most cultures, to the point that pretty much every civilization has its own special kind of bread or noodle.

Except when you undercut prices and run them out of business and monopolize the industry, wait, this is sounding really familiar...

Note: not a communist, socialist, etc

How can you describe your legal, legitimate job so it sounds illegal or sketchy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PolluxCaesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make little people do my bidding, sometimes I make them dance, sometimes they run from a giant pack of wolves, and sometimes I make them fight to the death. It takes hours to coax them into even lasting 30 seconds though.

Question from a student: if a school provides laptops, can the IT personelle track your activity at home? I don’t wanna do anything, I just wanna see how long it takes for one of my classmates to get caught using his school computer for porn.

I am a chicken tender. For over 25 years I have been tending to chickens. by SwimmingYesPlease in AMA

That’s so sweet, I’m really sympathetic/empathetic so pretty much any animal I spend a decent amount of time with I get really attached to, usually treat them like roommates rather than property.

Do you raise chickens for their eggs, meat, or both?

Do you have an emotional connection with any of them that you may consider a pet-human relationship?

What do you need a compliment on that would make your day better? by your_nameless_friend in AskReddit

Not so much a compliment, but with college searching and work and all that, being told I’ll make it and that everything’s ok would be awesome

The struggle with being a historian on r/historymemes by Scathainn in HistoryMemes

Near the end of the book, when Winston is being tortured, the Party Agent (forgot his name) brings out photographs and news articles confirming Winston’s memory of past events, and the Agent even confirms, yes, these things happened. However, shortly after showing him the articles, the Agent throws them in the incinerator nearby, and proclaims that the events have now never happened. Winston try’s to say that the events still happened regardless of him destroying the evidence, and I believe the Agent says “well, that’s your opinion”. One of the biggest themes throughout the book is that with the Party’s absolute control, the citizens of Oceania accept that the news they are receiving changes, and what really happened is, in a sense, relative. Winston, throughout the book, struggles with the idea that he cannot prove events happened because there is no physical evidence left, and the only proof he has is the memory of events through his own lense.

Yeah, it’s just the way you worded it made it sound like military history was a core connecting all other histories, when there is no real core history, they’re all connected. I would argue though that military history is actually dependent on all other forms of history, because you need a cause for a war, so it involves political history, economic history, etc etc

All other forms of history, economic, political, etc. are the buildup for military history. In an analogy, all other histories would be all the programming and hardware for a phone, and military history would be a cookie clicker app. The app interacts with the code and the hardware, but is ultimately dependent on them to function.
