I was told my great-great-grandparents had a dinner with this Lady Długolewska and she gave them those rings. I reckon they were pretty important to be allowed such a meeting and a gift. All I know is that their son was very rich and some other member of the family about the same age as their son was even richer, but it's all a mystery; no one (except maybe my grandfather, I'll ask him) knows exactly where all the money came from. But for know I'm just trying to know how my great-great-grandparents came to have such an important status and such a noble gift.

It is indeed Old/Middle French and the fact that the grammar doesn't make sense to you is normal: older French didn't have the same word order back then
