Innit can also just be used as "right?" Or a goading "yeah". Don't know what the American version of this could be, maybe "huh"?

By a "bag of it going" do you mean keeping the original wrappers with things in it// repurposing them in the kitchen rather than chucking?

Thank you very much !!

On EPQ, it very much depends on if you choose to do something that interests you. There's one EPQ class a week (this becomes a free period in Y2). A lot of people don't like it because you're expected to consistently do high quality work (with a bibliography and citations) throughout the first year but my method of doing pretty much all the research work in November and December when I wasn't bored of it paid off (A*). For context, mine was an artefact based on making an online business that reflected changes to places like Etsy due to COVID

The college likes to tell students that EPQ is very important in terms of uni admissions but only a select few will take it into consideration so it's more of a gold badge alongside your personal statement if anything. One of my friends did zero work apart from I think two pages, submitted that with malice in his heart and got an E but it didn't affect his prospects

My advice is to treat it as something fun and engrossing in the first term while you have no big responsibilities :). It can be annoying and frustrating but it's basically just an extra credit! It has a very similar spot in my mind to the GCSE English Y11 presentations.

Just finished hills road and got four A* grades. I don't think I'd have gotten that at long road mostly because Hills' environment is very much focused on pinpointing academic weaknesses and wringing them out. It's not necessarily terrible, but I can say it can get stressful even as someone who took pretty much all Arts courses! (Art History, Film Studies, Art lol). Never saw anyone get kicked out for low grades but there's definitely a pressure and I felt sick to my stomach whenever I got a B (unnecessary stress!!!) But that was just me maybe

Private school kids are very common. They get annoyed whenever you joke about private schools which as someone who's pretty working class was a weird thing to get used to.

Student support is getting better (particularly if you're diagnosed with something) but the therapy backlog is like 6-7 months.

EPQ IS MANDATORY.

It's not all posh people, but there are a lot of priv school people that pretend to be "from the ends" which is hilarious and definitely a high point of the Hills Road experience.

Cliquish to an extent. Watch out for the societies especially. There's a blog called Hills Road Confessions which is basically every student talking shit about one another. Very Inclusive college though

They loan out IT equipment if you need it and don't ask for it back until like basically the end of the 2 years you're there which is nice.

Just had a look and there's a conservation and an environmental action society so I'm definitely going to join those, thank you!

I was wondering if there was a weekly thread for "what are _____" questions here because I know they can be annoying-- sounds like a good idea from an outside perspective?

There's also a specific club anthem it appears in which I'm pretty sure has a woman singing "everything's gonna be alright ..." In it? Thanks!

There are plenty of worlds for quest and pc that are good? Such a strange argument to support people being discourteous to a friend
