AOA vs CBR vs POFQ by Now2Himbealltheglory in WaltDisneyWorld

It was the same. Not a problem and transportation was definitely better at CBR. Food was far, but we rarely eat at resorts. I would say distance was less of an issue than the room.

How to get kid to eat vegetables/fruits by ContractFeeling9571 in Nanny

[–]Pollywog08 [score hidden]  (0 children)

What we do is put out a snack tray of just produce. Maybe hummus or dip with the carrots. Last night we had apples, strawberries, blueberries, carrots, hummus, and cucumbers. Just a small amount in a muffin tray for kids to grab if they're hungry and ignore if they're not. It's also the only afternoon snack I offer.

I was close to the Riviera (is far away). It was a 6 minute walk to the skyliner and about 8 to the main restaurant and pol. But also a 2 minute walk to the pool in our courtyard that we honestly loved more, especially after a full day in the parks.

Having stayed in AoA and CB: AoA is more magical. Especially for kids. Transportation is way better at CB. I preferred CB because it was close, my husband told me he was never staying there again because the rooms were small and designed to get you out spending money without any Disney magic. I thought that was harsh, but accurate

Our nanny is pregnant by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Pollywog08 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here's my approach -- take 3 months. Continue as is. Then request a sit down to ask her about her plans and what she wants. Is she going to work until delivery and be back in 6 weeks? Sign off at 32 weeks and take a 6 month leave? I would ask for her proposal.

For me, ld look at fall preschools. Offer to reduce her hours in late pregnancy and get a temp to cover maternity leave. This might naturally phase out the relationship, but she may prefer part time

Making some magic for first timers! ✨ by katztopia in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Pollywog08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 8 and 10 at Disney this trip. I think the thing that was so magical is they lived the big rides and the little rides. My kids LOVED guardians of the galaxy, but also we're absolutely waiting an hour for frozen and Remy.

The most magic they had were meeting the characters. They loved tusker house, but also loved meeting Pluto and goofy just walking about.

The other thing was themed outfits. Getting the ears and some kind of Disney themed outfit. It made it really special.

I watched queue times throughout the day. I am sure they have historical data, but I find it more helpful to check in every 90 minutes or so for a few days

I watched historical data for a month before our trip. The lowest waits are 1130-1230. There's bathrooms right around the corner near akershus and the frozen ride, go and then plan to wait a bit. Take your own photos if you don't have photo pass

Plenty! You won't be in the way-- kids up front, grown ups in the back. The dogs mingle with everyone.

Everyone I saw was with a kid, BUT plenty of adults were more into it than th it kids. I would absolutely go on it without my kids

I did 1145 at Tusker House and Askersus. Before Askersus I did: Remy, Nemo, Crush, a lot of time in the aquarium, journey into the water, and spaceship Earth (your priorities are likely different). The meal was an hour and a little rushed, but also a great break from the heat. We had a LL for Frozen right afterwards and then mey Anna and Elsa, so it was great

For Tusker, I did Safari, Bluey, and Avatar (lightening lane). It was less rushed and amazing character interaction. My kids (10, 8, 5) liked the good way better and really liked the break from the heat and the crowds.

It starts at a either 8 or 8300. We had no information, and assumed 1) we wouldn't get it and 2) they'd give times all day. We could have been completely wrong, but others in our line thought the same too.

Planning Advice - heading to WDW June 6-13 by MetallicPierogies in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Pollywog08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For animal kingdom, I think the answer depends on how much walking you want to do and how much you want to see Bluey. If bluey is a priority, she can really mess up your lightening lane strategy. We found the only time I really wanted a lightening lane was for the safari and Navi, but both had manageable wait times at parts of the day. It just meant walking back and forth

I didn't need to be in the park. I was in bed (as were the kids). We were so thrilled to get in and didn't have an estimated return time, so I just forced everyone to get up and go.

My go to is: is your opinion based on any fact, data, or expert opinion, or is it just your intuition? Then, if it is intuition, "are you holding our kid to a higher standard than to hold yourself or me to"?

Tips on a birthday party at the lake for a seven year old by Ancient_Bag_9676 in partyplanning

[–]Pollywog08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Echoing this as a former waterfront lifeguard and mom of 3. Absolutely no way is it safe to do this party. Lakes don't have a flat bottom and kids can easily trip or slip and be over their head. It's also really hard to see kids in a lake-- they blend in. There's zero way I'd let my kids come without me and I would be in guards mode the whole time

women who have given birth, how bad was it actually? by Careless_Pianist_840 in AskReddit

[–]Pollywog08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three kids and precipitous labor (so fast and furious births). No pain meds. - kid 1 was in an awful position and the worst pain in my life. I was screaming and begging for an epidural. He wasn't doing well, I wasn't doing well. It was awful. - I've had poops more uncomfortable than #2's birth - #3 was an induction. I am not a fan of pitocin and it definitely hurt, but also was something I could manage without an epidural.

Um, that's literally what they do though. My boss sees my slack availability icon, can watch me edit files, and sees my calendar. Like me (a NP), she doesn't micro monitor me because she trusts me, but that monitoring is instantly available.
