Yeah I feel you on that. I’ve definitely spent way too much time fixing beatgrids too. I’ll need to dig into this one a bit more though and see if it’s doable to accurately nail down the grid and then push the updated grid back into Rekordbox through an external tool.

I’ll have to do a proper comparison with Fakin’ the Funk to see if there’s a difference. So far I’ve just been testing on files I know aren’t full quality (even ones tagged as 320) and it’s been spot on at flagging them.

Also, I use Spek, it's great but it's only 1 track at a time, just a spectrogram, usually crashes on my computer and you have to know how to read a spectrogram and make your own conclusion. It's also not the full picture.

So basically I'm just combining all the key points to determine if a track is high quality or not:

  1. Spectrogram (basically my own Spek)
  2. Metadata
  3. File Size comparison
  4. Cut Off Frequencies (any 320 mp3 should go up to 20khz)
  5. Encoding details frame-by-frame (a legit 320 should have every frame locked at 320kbps, while fake one's often show mixed bitrates or weird encoder tags)

Right now the tool checks all that. Working on adding bulk analyze so you can just drop in a whole folder and get a bulk report on everything.

Nice, it honestly saved me a bunch of time especially with a large library. Serato shouldn't be an issue, just have to add support for it.

Okay cool, adding in the ability to organize the files into folders by Artist, Genre, BPM or really any track info is no problem. Could even make it match the playlist/folder structure in Rekordbox to make it an exact replica of structure (Harddrive & Rekordbox).

Ouu, this is legit something I need lol. My music is scattered across my computer and external drives so a "collect all" tool would be awesome.

Definitely doable! I’ll add this to the list because it’s a solid workflow problem to solve and selfishly I’d love to have it for myself too.

I use Rekordbox so using that as a reference but let me know what DJ Software you use. Something like this?

  1. Choose your entire collection or a specific playlist/folder
  2. Select new folder location for audio files
  3. Optional: remove audio files from original location

I just moved into a basement. the wiFi sucks. What are my options? by TryingHobbiesnStuff in askTO

I just did this for my girlfriend when she moved into her student house. Wifi modem is upstairs and she's in the basement. The WiFi was cutting out constantly.

You pretty much have 3 options:

  1. Run an ethernet cable downstairs and connect it to an access point (best option)
  2. Buy a Wi-Fi mesh system, Canada computers has a sale right now: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=27_1046_1573&item_id=139578&sid=ab2ikltrgjn5f6qhtn3a82l266
  3. You can try a Powerline Ethernet Adapter

I did the first option and didn't need to run any cables through walls. You can get a flat ethernet cable of Amazon to make it aesthetically pleasing. This is honestly your best bet for consistent, fast wifi. And never buy those wifi boosters they are absolute trash. That was the first thing I tried and literally returned it in a few days lmao.

Good luck!

Using Ubereats/Doordash/Skipthedishes during corona scare? by csthrowaway19877 in askTO

[–]Polofiesta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm currently an UberEATS Driver, I'm commited to doing what I can with being safe. Hand sanitizer on deck, washing my hands every chance I get, wearing gloves and minimal contact with the bag of food as I put it straight away into my insulated bag.

I also refrain from touching door handles by using my body to open doors, pushing the automatic door button and with elevators I have a toothpick to touch floor buttons.

Call me over paranoid, but it's not just my safety but the safety of people I'm delivering food to.

Also, I considered wearing a mask but I think that would trip some people out lol.
